TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Third-ranked Alabama (3-0) opens Southeastern Conference play this week with a home game against No. 14 Arkansas (3-0).

The Crimson Tide continued preparations for the Razorbacks Tuesday afternoon during an indoor practice. Heavy rains soaked the region overnight and through portions of the morning.

News of the day
Dee Milliner returned to practice after missing Monday with an undisclosed illness. The sophomore cornerback has 11 tackles and six pass breakups this season.

What's hot
Duron Carter continued working with the scout team wearning No. 11. All indications are the junior college transfer from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College is likely to redshirt. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban addressed the ongoing issues Monday during a press conference. He has three years to play two seasons.
"At this point, we have not received the information that we need to receive," Saban said. "And unless something happens that we do receive it, I don't know if there is another option for us at this point, but there could be."

On the mend
Robert Lester came out of Saturday's 41-0 victory over North Texas with back spasms in the fourth quarter. The junior cornerback was working through drills during the media viewing period. Arie Kouandjio, who did not dress for the North Texas game, has practiced the past two days.
