Title: Danny Sheridan About Alabama, Auburn, & More
Post by: Marshal Dillon on June 03, 2017, 10:28:08 AM
Interesting.

Quote
"My thought is there is no question Alabama is well coached and has great athletes. They can do whatever they want, but, as a handicapper, if they rush four men like they did against Clemson, they are going to have the same result against Florida State. ...

"When Alabama plays a dual-threat quarterback, Deondre Francois, a guy like that, I always pick the underdog. The reason is you can't rush four."

Well...I suppose it depends on the skill of the four you are rushing, and the skill of your DBs.  But to me, the best D against a dual threat QB is ball control and time of possession.

And you can't let the QB dink and dunk short pass after short pass to wear you down.

The talking heads always say it takes a mobile QB to beat Bama, but we face lots of mobile QBs. Tebow, Newton, Manziel, Watson - four of the best college QBs this century, and it took them playing perfectly to squeak out wins against Bama. Bama has also lost to some less mobile QBs in games where the offense didn't perform well.

The mobile QB narrative needs to be put to rest.
