Just heard this and am somewhat surprised. He's been Head Coach for 18 years & he may be tired of all the B.S. he has to endure. Things like recruiting, the media, fan expectations, alumni, wealthy donors, players acting out, etc. He's 58 and rich so I say go to Florida and enjoy a beachfront condo/house.

I have no idea as to what he makes at OU but I'm guessing he falls well short of CNS and a few other coaches. His age tells me it is much more than just his desire to leave college football. :dunno:

He has two high school sons who play football, so maybe he wants to see his boys play football. Plus, he's made over $40-50 mil, so he doesn't need money.

Great point as this just sucked all the air out of the room and OU softball was forgotten. In the past 6-7 weeks they've won a NC in women's gymnastics, men's golf (that was a shock), men's gymnastics, and softball. |
