Title: Auburn softball coach Clint Myers retires
Post by: Jamos on August 23, 2017, 08:01:43 PM
Auburn announced Myers’ retirement Wednesday. He went 205-54-1 with the Tigers and won Southeastern Conference Tournament Championships in 2015 and 2016, making it to the World Series both times.

This news has been expected for over a year now as their softball program really became a cesspool over the past 2 years. There were vicious rumors of Meyer's son, who was an assistant coach at Auburn, was fired after the 2016 season  and those rumors exposed some very nasty things about the assistant coach and he deserved to fired. No coach should ever become sexually involved with his players. This past season was filled with players being suspended for drug and alcohol reasons early in the season.

I think Coach Meyers was and is a great softball coach and it's a shame his career had to end the way it did. I hope his son is proud of himself, he's a scumbag and really tarnished Coach Meyers legacy at the end.

Meyers son, Cody Meyers, was the pitching coach. He resigned in late March of this year during the season. It was heavily reported he was sexually involved with a player.

Auburn had a good year record wise but the team was a mess. A four year starting shortstop and their #2 pitcher were arrested on drug and disorderly conduct charges mid season. Their All American catcher who was a 3 year starter announced at the end of the year she was transferring to play her senior year somewhere else.

This was a surprise. It makes me wonder if other things have been discovered that forced Meyers to resign.

Here's why he "resigned" in my opinion. Read link for more info.

Quote
A month prior to the abrupt retirement of Auburn softball coach Clint Myers, a former player sent a complaint alleging abusive treatment by the coaching staff, sexual harassment and concerns about an administrative cover-up to school officials and Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, according to a report by ESPN.

This might explain why hMeyers abruptly left softball power Arizona in 2013 to go to Auburn whose program was a SEC bottom feeder.

It looks like the entire Meyers family are dirt bags and the Auburn admin was willing to put up with it in order to have a successful program until they got caught.
