Title: Talking Football Overkill
Post by: Catch Prothro on August 24, 2017, 06:19:53 AM
I thought I had seen it all, but ESPN has gone to new depths in their preseason coverage.  It is bad enough getting exposed to Heisman hype before the season starts, but that has now been expanded.

First there was the College Football Awards Preview Show.  Aren't those awards based on play during the season?

And then last night was the Herbie Awards Preview Show.  Come on, the Herbie Awards are sort of a joke, with a painted golden helmet.

I'm tired of the talking.  I'm ready for some Football!!

My DVR picked some of those up, but I'm not sure how that happened.  I didn't ever bother to look at them.

It also picked up a show about PJ Fleck and I know for certain I did not tell it to record that show.  In fact when I looked at the list of shows to record it was not on there, but it records it anyway.  Something sinister is afoot at the world wide leader in sports.

It's Robert Lee's fault.

Probably.  Is that why they want to take down his statue?

Quote
ESPN has removed an announcer from its broadcast of the University of Virginia’s first football game next month because he has the same name as a Confederate general memorialized in statues that are being taken down across the country.

I wish ESPN would be overtaken by Fox Sports or somebody, so we wouldn't have to watch college football games through them.

I also got a recording of the PJ Fleck show on DTV.  Definitely did not set a record.

It might have been scheduled as College Football Live but they swapped shows on us.

I suspect they did that intentionally too.
