Title: Article About Ray Perkins
Post by: McBaman on August 29, 2017, 08:42:06 AM
Brings back a lot of memories, expecially the 1966 Orange Bowl game vs. Nebraska that won us a NC.

I always thought that if Perk had stayed at Bama we would have gotten on another great run.  He had established a national recruiting posture but didn't stick around to see it finished.

Good article on Perkins.

He did some good things in the NFL. I was not a fan of him as the Alabama coach. He had no personality and pizzed off a lot of people. Three things I particularly did not like: 1. Took down Coach Bryant's tower. 2. Got rid of John Forney. 3. Played for the tie rather go for 2 points and the win at LSU in '85.

I think he was an average coach with zero people skills and not very good as an NFL coach. Curry was a bad coach, too.
