Title: Auburn President Orders Comprehensive Review of Softball Program
Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 29, 2017, 07:55:36 PM
This will be ugly when everything is revealed.

Quote
Auburn University president Steven Leath said the school is performing a comprehensive review of its softball program in the wake of allegations of abuse and sexual harassment under coach Clint Myers and associate head coach Corey Myers.

Leath, who became Auburn's president in June, told ESPN the university hired Birmingham law firm Lightfoot, Franklin & White to be involved in the review of the softball program. The law firm did not immediately confirm it had been retained but a university spokesman confirmed there is a review.

Someone explain this to me, I don't get it. Read link, somewhat confusing.

Quote
An Auburn athletics spokeswoman claims the school began investigating its softball program last September, but athletic director Jay Jacobs saying in April he was unaware of any investigation into former associate head softball coach Corey Myers was "unfortunate" and former coach Clint Myers' July claim of agreeing in principle to a three-year contract extension was "categorically false."

I think Jay Jacobs is in deep do-do with this situation.

I think Jay Jacobs is in deep do-do with this situation.

Jay Jacobs is a puppet put in place by the hand full of big money boosters including Pat Dye. He does as he is told. They have put Jacobs on the hot seat for years and he somehow keeps his job. This could be the time he takes one for the team and silently collects a check for years to come.

Agree with both of you.  The fact that Jacobs is no longer commenting on the situation/investigation suggests to me that he is an object of the investigation. AU setting the record straight sounds like a move to limit the Univ's liability, i.e. they don't want to leave incorrect/misleading info out there on the record.

So AU has a new President.  Maybe he is going to clean house.

Here are some suggestions for starters:

Pat Dye
Jimmy Ranes
Jay Jacobs
Rich  McGlynn- Executive Associate Athletic Director-Administration coordination of all institutional,             Southeastern Conference and NCAA programs. Football sport administrator. (plus he's a lawyer)
Bernard Hill-Senior Associate Athletic Director-Compliance
Dr. Bobby R. Woodard- Associate Provost and Vice President for Student Affairs at Auburn University

Sounds like the front office down to Malzahn should be cleaned out. RTR!
