Title: Texas A&M Chokes Big Time/Backlash Starts Monday UPDATED
Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 03, 2017, 10:38:30 PM
A&M had a 44-10 lead in the mid 3rd quarter and had been running over, around, and through the UCLA defense for something like 350-360 yards. UCLA starting moving the ball thru the air and scoring TD's. Meanwhile, with a true freshman QB who replaced their injured starter, A&M starts passing the ball. This continues throughout the rest of the game. Bottom line, UCLA 45 A&M 44. Beyond incredible. Goodbye Kevin Sumlin.

I watched that game right up until aTm kicked the FG to make it 44 to 10 with about 4 minutes to go in the 3rd Quarter.  Then I said this is just getting too hard to watch and flipped it over to VT and WVU, which was a pretty good game.  At some point they showed a highlight and said UCLA was making a comeback, but they were still down by 44-31 I think.  So I flipped back and watched the rest of it.

CKS may need a ride back to Texas.  I have never seen a team fall apart like that.  For the last 19 minutes UCLA was literally on a better than 98 to nothing pace (110 to nothing to be exact).  And that was after being totally dominated for 41 minutes.

I watched it, except during commercials when I switched to WV-VT.
The A&M RB had over 180 yards rushing in the first half, and 4 TDs.

Yep, CKS is toast.

We have friends who are both A&M grads and were at the game.  Needless to say, they want Sumlin gone as soon as possible.

If Sumlin is there 2 weeks from now, I'll be surprised.

A&M came out like their hair was on fire. When they got the big lead, it was like a switch was flipped. I don't know how they recover from this one.

TAM collapsed after their QB was hurt. They would have been much better off just running the ball, burning clock and punting. And then at the end, TAM defense was exhausted, much like Bama-Clemson last year. I don't see how Sumlin survives unless he wins all his early conference games and, even then, I think it may take 10-2 to savehim.

Well, it starts for Sumlin, again, courtesy a University Regent.

I'm sure I may be criticized for this post but I honestly don't care. I've been on the Board of Regents for the A&M System for almost seven years. During that time, I've not once commented on Kevin Sumlin and his performance during his tenure at our school. I never said a word when he and his agent manipulated a much bigger and longer contract. I said nothing about his arrogance and his mishandling of multiple player controversies. I said nothing when we had multiple awesome recruiting classes, only to see key players leave our school or underperform. But tonight I am very disappointed and I have to say this. Kevin Sumlin was out-coached tonight, which isn't new. He recruits well, but can't coach the big games, or the close games.

More info about Sumlin situation.

The money's certainly there, but Texas A&M will owe head coach Kevin Sumlin a large sum of cash if he's fired this season.

RELATED: College football media call for Sumlin's exit

According to ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell, the Aggies would owe Kevin Sumlin $11.2 million for voiding his current deal, a six-year agreement signed back in December 2013.
