No official word yet, but I am seeing where Louisville may be firing Rick Pitino.

Just too much bad going on at Louisville BB and Pitino keeps acting like he's in the dark and a victim of these situations. He's paid $4-$5 mil a year to know what's going on.

SUPERCOACH OR MODERATOR:

Also, we need to start combining this thread and all subsequent threads under the original topic about the FBI indictments and BB investigation, otherwise we will have 10-15 or more threads on the same subject. That makes it easier to refer back to all the things that will be happening. I expect much more to be coming down the pipe on this since all the sports reporters from places like yahoo, CBS, FOX, NY Times, etc., are now on this big time.

Pittino has been placed on UNpaid admin leave.   Here's the ESPN story...

The univ is following contracts and their own HR policies.  They have to do this to avoid lawsuits.  But I have little doubt both these guys will be fired.

I agree we need to merge these threads.

My mistake, Pitino makes $7 mil a year, not a measly $4-$5 mil.

This article nails Pitino perfectly.

Quote
Rick Pitino committed eight NCAA violations, then misled the NCAA, and it was bad enough and ugly enough that the NCAA recommended the school disassociate itself from him.

This was in 1977. Pitino was an assistant at Hawaii.

It’s almost certainly over for Pitino now. He is 65 and leaving in disgrace from Louisville, a place with an astoundingly high disgrace tolerance. When the NCAA dusts off its rulebook and hammers the Cardinals again, it will surely hit Pitino with a show-cause penalty, keeping him off the court for a few more years. Even in the swamp of college sports, it’s hard to envision Pitino cleaning himself up enough to get another big-time job. He has gone from the coach everybody wanted to hire to the guy nobody will touch.
