Title: Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson dies at age 89 Post by: pmull on January 13, 2018, 10:40:45 AM Quote Keith Jackson, who was widely regarded as the voice of college football by several generations, died late Friday night, his family said. He was 89. Jackson, who retired in 2006, spent some 50 years calling the action in a folksy, down-to-earth manner that made him one of the most popular play-by-play personalities in the business. "For generations of fans, Keith Jackson was college football," said Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company. "When you heard his voice, you knew it was a big game. Keith was a true gentleman and memorable presence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Turi Ann, and his family." http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/22076254/legendary-broadcaster-keith-jackson-dies-age-89 (http://a3.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2018%2F0113%2Fr313779_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg&w=570) Title: Re: Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson dies at age 89 Post by: McBaman on January 13, 2018, 10:44:32 AM Kieth was simply, the best. One of my favorite Keith Jackson calls. Title: Re: Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson dies at age 89 Post by: Leewillie on January 13, 2018, 01:06:54 PM Another of my favorite Keith Jackson comments can at the start of an Alabama-Nebraska game. I'll paraphrase, but it went something like this. "Tom Osborne has be awarded his Doctorate Degree in Education, standing on the other sideline is Paul Bryant who holds a Doctorate in football".
Title: Re: Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson dies at age 89 Post by: ricky023 on January 13, 2018, 05:50:20 PM Keith Jackson was an Alabama fan. He would have loved the game on the Monday Night we became Champions again.
Bro. Keith R.I.P. May the football booth up there grab you as soon as you arrived. God Bless his family. RTR! This game was on TV yesterday. I was wondering about Keith when I was watching it. The last time I saw him was when he did the coin toss for the Texas game at the end of the '09 season. Title: Re: Legendary broadcaster Keith Jackson dies at age 89 Post by: SUPERCOACH on January 15, 2018, 10:50:58 AM "And they're dancin' in the streets of Opp and Eastaboga..." I remember that line. Looks like a 5 yard offsides penalty in the record book.

My wife got me a lithograph of "The Strip", autographed by George Teague, issue #25. It is proudly displayed on my "All things Alabama" wall in my office.
