Quote
"Austin's probably not as flashy as some of these younger guys and may not be good from 50-plus (yards), but I think he's going to be very consistent and he's going to get you the points," Johnson said. "Those 40- to 48-yard field goals that you've got to have to win, I think he'll be good for those. And then obviously the shorter stuff, he should be good, too. I just think he'll be a really steady kicker and do a really good job."

We should be able to get any kicker that we want.  We just need to do a better job evaluating them and deciding who is the best.  I wonder if that has anything to do with CBW's departure.

SC I think you hit the nail on the head. I know you remember when we fussed cause the ST was letting big field condition on every kick. RTR!

Gotta wonder why we didn't look into grad xfer kickers in previous years.  God knows we could have used them.

I thought Pappa sat out a year after he left OM.  Guess I was wrong.  He must have shown more accuracy at OM than he brought to Bama.

He was 14-15 from inside 40 yards before the Natty. On the last FG, his plant foot slid 6 inches as the turf gave way. We won, I think I'm willing to forgive him.  :-*

Problem is, kickers are often fruitcakes.  We need a kicker with a LB mentality.

Yeah, I don't hold anything against Pappy; just glad we won.  And glad all of the "I told you so" whiners didn't get to say it!  :lol2:

Remember Cade Foster?  He wasn't that good.

I was about to post about him too.  He was pretty good at tackling though if they got past the initial wave of defenders.  :lol2:

We were all so excited about Cade when he came here. He just never lived up to the hype.

I wonder how Austin would do at catching punts when he isn't kicking field goals...  ???

Thank goodness the "punt fumble-itis" wasn't a problem during the playoffs.

If he is dependable inside 48 like his high school coach says we can live with that.

True.  As I recall, last year's game included several missed field goals.

I want to know who is going to be our punter because that was the championship person on the team. He always flipped the field except a couple of boofs! RTR!

Not sure why they're quoting the HS coach of a senior college transfer.  ???

The only one that would give them a quote.
