Comer 6, Final Randolph County 53, Wellborn 13, Final Hokes Bluff 49, Cleburne County 10, Final Spring Garden 39, Victory Christian 12, Final You notice Cleburne County got pounded by Hokes Bluff. They are already in the playoffs. We are paired with Region 3 so it is important to keep winning to avoid a first game road game at Hewitt-Trusville, Thompson or Hoover. Seems they are getting better as the season goes on. They are getting better each week. Austin graduated 33 seniors last year which included a lot of starters and the state Player of the Year (Mr. Football). They played Hartselle who is a long time Austin rival in game one and lost in a very close game. Austin struggled in the first half of that game but almost came back to win it. Hartselle is tanked #5 in 6A. Austin moved up to 7A this year and is ranked #8 last week. The win last night secured a first round home game in the playoffs. Austin has made deep runs in the 6A playoffs the last few years. I hope they can do the same in 7A. Title: Re: Friday Night Lights Post by: pmull on October 19, 2018, 06:50:04 AM Austin beat Bob Jones 37-22 on Thursday night. Austin jumped out to a 20-0 first quarter lead. They lead 27-7 at half. Austin did not play well. Bob Jones scored two of their touchdowns given a short field due to Austin turnovers.
Austin (7A #7) plays James Clemons (#10) next week. The winner wins Region 4. The loser finishes second. Either way Austin will get a first round home game in the playoffs. Region 4 is matched with B'ham's Region 3 which is loaded with Hoover, Thompson, Hewitt-Trussville, etc. Title: Re: Friday Night Lights Post by: ricky023 on October 19, 2018, 09:13:14 AM Well we don't have to worry with Cleburne County @ Heflin, they can't beat anybody. Hoover, Mountain Brook, Thompson and Hewitt-Trussville are tied at 5-1. Regional play ends next week with Hoover playing Moutain Brook and Thompson playing Hewitt-Trussville. The two winners will get the 1 & 2 playoff spots which host a home game. The two losers will be spots 3 & 4 and play in North Alabama (Region 3) at Austin and James Clements.
Region 3 appears to be a lot stronger than Region 4. Title: Re: Friday Night Lights Post by: ricky023 on October 20, 2018, 09:41:45 AM East Alabama scores with my Ranburne losing to Ohatchee:

Title: Re: Friday Night Lights Post by: pmull on November 10, 2018, 07:08:44 AM Austin laid an egg in the first round of the 7A playoffs. They lost to Mountain Brook 31-0. Four interceptions with two of them being pick 6's and a punt snap over the punters head giving MB the ball on the 1 yard line will do it. The headline of today's Decatur Daily is "Turnovers Haunt Austin".
All four Birmingham 7A Region 3 teams beat North Alabama 7A Region 4 teams.
