Title: Cecil Hurt: Tide Answers Challenge Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on October 02, 2011, 11:48:27 PM Quote It couldn’t have been much louder if the Florida Gator fans had been handed portable jet engines upon entering the stadium. It couldn’t have been more of a direct challenge if Charlie Weis had knocked Nick Saban and Kirby Smart to the turf, not after the Florida offense attacked Alabama’s most vaunted defensive back on its first play from scrimmage and netted a 65-yard touchdown for the audacity. It couldn’t have been a better test for a University of Alabama team that failed such examinations a year earlier. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=rivals-1273203 Title: Re: Cecil Hurt: Tide Answers Challenge Post by: Chechem on October 03, 2011, 06:13:13 AM Keep in mind that Cecil Hurt predicted a low-scoring war for this game (on Finebaum Friday). He said "low scoring, maybe 17-13". He didn't say so in this article, but he was certainly as pleasantly pleased as the rest of us.
Quote Alabama sent an answer. It was not going to be the tortoise. It was going to be the Tyrannosaurus Rex. As he said Friday (paraphrased), "Florida is loaded in talent, needs a signature win, has had more success than expected in 2011, and the new coaching staff has jelled into a talented group." He went so far to say it might be a field-goal difference, and be decided LATE in the game. His 17-13 was a good guess. I had 34-20, and would have been VERY pleased with that. Glad Cecil missed on this one. We'll see what he pulls out for the Vandy game. Maybe we'll see his patented 17-13 for LSU. I would of been pleased with that as well but I'm more pleased with the actual score. :D Title: Re: Cecil Hurt: Tide Answers Challenge Post by: bamalum67 on October 03, 2011, 07:51:53 AM Hey, I was concerned also, and thought it would be a low scoring game, like maybe 21-17 or so.
I am pleased with the outcome, but saw some deficiencies that we STILL have not overcome, and will likely cause us some grief with LSU..namely, the weak KO game...why in the blue blazes of H*ll can't we get a KO back in the end zone? If we can't get it at least back to the five, we are giving the other team good field position and a chance of running it back. Not complaining, just wanting to see a COMPLETE effort. Next couple of games will give us some rest.
