Title: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: bamalum67 on October 03, 2011, 08:13:04 AM I'd surely like to know why the officials did not eject the Fla player who took a swing at our guy...anyplace else it would be a a no-brainer. I realize the officials in big games like to "let the players play" but there is no room in college FB for this crap.
If the Off.s had flagged Nick Fairley early last year, the thug would not have gotten away with all his crap. They got foolish rules on lots of things, but the hared core stuff they got to start flagging and getting the offending players off the field. AS of now, there really is no punishment for the offense. Aj needs to settle his butt down, too. I suppose CNS took care of that! Title: Re: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: carl childers on October 03, 2011, 08:14:20 AM I don't know how it is with NCAA rules, but I know in HS if a player throws a punch he is ejected, wheter it lands or not.
Title: Re: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: Chechem on October 03, 2011, 08:39:07 AM The SEC office will review it and talk with Muschamp. Expect him to sit the first half against LSU (just a guess).
Title: Re: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: bamalum67 on October 03, 2011, 11:51:16 AM Ok, so the SEC office will review it..and MAYBE suspend him for the first half of next game..
NOT ENOUGH! If Muschamp had any cojones, HE"D suspend him for a game. Immediate punishment/suspension/ejection is required in such cases, IMHO. Yes, in HS sports, it would require ejection..and you can believe the opposing coach would let you know it if you did not eject him IMMEDIATELY. SHould eb the same in college. This is exactly what has happened to HS basketball, and maybe college..it has turned into a street game..no blood, no foul, etc. Because the officials allow too much pushing, shoving, hands on the back, etc. so that now it is hard to tell what is a foul..and no use reading the rulebook, they don't pay attention to it...just call the game, get it over, get your check and go home. I know..I was a HS official for Basketball in my area, until the Head Ref called me and told me I was calligtoo many fouls.."just let em play and get out." If the NCAA does not put a stop to this crap and REQUIRE officials to CALL IT, (and SUSPEND them if they don't)we will have more fighting, etc.. Hellsbells, they penalize too much celebrating and let players throw punches, kick groins, etc...????? Late celebration penalties have directly changed the outcome of games, and it may have even been this same crew in that UGA game last year. Title: Re: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: Jamos on October 03, 2011, 12:08:57 PM That guy should have watched the rest of the game from the bench plus sitting on the bench for the LSU game. We've got one player that needs to tone it down a little or they are going to start flagging him for taunting, Dre. There were a few instances the other night that I just knew the Ref was going to flag him.
Title: Re: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: bamalum67 on October 03, 2011, 05:34:22 PM Well, I agree about Dre..CNS should address this BEFORE a ref gets to do it. He (CNS)got on AJ's case pretty good the other nite, too. And I loved it that he went out on the field and pulled a guy off that was showing his ignorance. Got as lot of respect for CNS..and the staff.
Hey, I was an HS official for a time, and I kNOW some refs have a h*rd on for certain players and certain things..maybe not a lot of them, but they exist..and we will run across one one fine day. This should not occur in a perfect world, but it is reality. A lot of us posters played/coached/officiated and we know how emotions can get in a big game, but you gotta keep things in check I am hoping CNS takes care of this problem soon. Title: Re: Fla player swinging and missing Post by: First Down Alabama on October 03, 2011, 06:24:17 PM Have you read the about the allegations made by a former Tide player, Reggie Myles, concerning Dominique Easley attacking him Saturday after the game? The article is on the front page of the Tuscaloosa News website. After reading the article it sounds like Easley's night didn't get any better.

I have complete confidence that CNS will handle the situation. |
