If the LSU-Alabama game is well-played and isn't lopsided, the loser probably won't drop lower than fifth or sixth in the BCS rankings. That would give it a chance to reach No. 2 before the final BCS standings on Dec. 4. I realize there are currently 13 other undefeated teams right now, but that number will be reduced greatly as the season plays out. It always does.

Mr. Brett McMurphy, who penned this, might have been good at predicting Florida - Florida State in the NC years ago, but he sucks here.  He's got LSU in the NC and Trent Richardson finishing well back in the Heisman.

Yeah. This guy is off my Christmas card list. A Texas win Saturday would shut him up.

I just don't see Bama/LSU in the NC game becuase of Boise State, which will not lose a game. There is too much media love for Boise St for that to happen.

It's possible but not likely.  Wisconsin and Clemson now both have a very good chance of finishing the season undefeated, not to mention Boise's cupcake schedule.  If the Alabama-LSU game is close and Boise is the only other undefeated team the voters might put the loser of that game in the BCSCG.  All speculation is pointless at this time though.

Countdown has begun to Alabama-LSU

SEC Blog Chris Low

There’s a lot to think about, including the dream scenario for the SEC that the two teams play a classic game on Nov. 5 and then turn around and play again a little more than 2 months later in the BCS National Championship Game.

Of course, for that to happen, just about everybody else in the top five or six of the polls would have to lose, including Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Stanford and Boise State. The chances of that happening are slim.

It’s still fun to think about.

But for now, I think I’ll take my own advice and live in the present.

I’ve covered this league long enough to understand that it rarely plays out exactly the way you think it will.

I really don't see that happening.  The only possibility is if LSU loses a close one in Tuscaloosa, dominates its remaining schedule, and all the other undefeated teams lose.  I do believe that LSU and  Bama are probably the two best teams, but Wisconsin looks sharp, Clemson looks pretty good, Oklahoma is reputed to be good (I will watch my first OK game this season on Saturday), and then there are Stanford and Boise.

It would be tremendous for the conference if it did happen, and it definitely would match the two best teams up, but like so many others have said its a stretch. I think if Wisconsin runs the table and wins the Big 10 title game, Bama/LSU will get them in the BCS, regardless of what OU does. Besides, the Sooners will still have that late season matchup with OSU. As long as one other Big 6 school remains undefeated, Boise is on the outside looking in. Stanford still has Notre Dame and Oregon(?) left, and as much as I like Dabo, I'm just waiting for Clemson to wake up and realize they are Clemson and drop two or three down the stretch.

They will not play twice. Bama is going to beat them like a drum. 42-17  You heard it here first. :popcorn2: :popcorn2: :popcorn2:

The same thing was being said about Ohio State and Michigan in 2006. Ohio State went on to get beat down by Florida in the BCS championship game. Michigan lost to USC in the Rose Bowl. I do not see a repeat happening in the BCS game unless every other contenter has two losses.

Jamos I truly agree. The build-up is for the Nov. 5th game. After that game one team is going to be in the running and if one SEC team is undefeated and BSU is undefeated then they will play in the NCG. RTR!

The scenario would have to be LSU losing a close one away (Tusc). But neither team has enough meat on the bones in their remaining schedule to make a run back to the top, without serious help.

The possibility of a Ohio State -Mich replay made me convulse. BOTH teams gave up 40 some points (or REAL close) as I recall. No defense. Their actual bowls proved this flaw out.

Not gonna happen, too may teams will probably be undefeated. I'm thinking mainly of Wisconsin & Boise State.

Agreed, though there is no gaurantee that a non-BCS conference team will get into the BCS Championship game even if a 1 loss BCS Conference team has to go ahead of them.
