Title: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 01, 2021, 07:31:43 PM Alabama plays Tennessee away on Saturday at 5 pm on ESPN2.
:popcorn2: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 01, 2021, 07:36:39 PM Tennessee is 6-0 and ranked #6 in nation. This is a huge chance for Bama to make Tide BB relevant. We must have consistent play, good D, and shoot 35% or better from 3 pointers.
:-\ Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 01, 2021, 07:43:54 PM More Tide basketball info. Quote This season, the Tide welcomed back four starters and five of its top seven scorers off last year's team, three were named as All-SEC performers a year ago. Petty (Second Team All-SEC), Shackelford (All-Freshman) and Jones (All-Defensive) all earned a spot on the postseason teams. Both Petty and Jones tested the NBA waters, with Petty, who was one of the last players to withdraw his name, announcing his return in early August and Jones in mid-June. Quote Tennessee enters the contest leading the NCAA in scoring defense at 52.7 points per game. The Volunteers are also limiting the opposition to 36.2 percent shooting from the field and 27.1 percent from beyond the three-point line while outrebounding opponents by 11.0 rebounds per game (40.0-29.0). https://rolltide.com/news/2021/1/1/mens-basketball-alabama-ready-for-sec-road-opener-at-no-7-6-tennessee-on-saturday-night (https://rolltide.com/news/2021/1/1/mens-basketball-alabama-ready-for-sec-road-opener-at-no-7-6-tennessee-on-saturday-night) :D Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: ricky023 on January 01, 2021, 07:58:06 PM This is gonna be a tough game for the TIDE cause the Vols are a great team this time. :popcorn2: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 05:24:38 PM Bama looks like to be playing with effort at least.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 05:26:14 PM Tide 3/10 FG, 2/4 FT. 12-10 UT. UT holds teams to like 56 points a game.
:dog: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 05:27:17 PM Sometimes SEC regular season basketball is hard to watch. The refs sure love their whistles.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 05:39:19 PM Good hustle by Bama, has missed a couple of lay-ups. 16-14 UT.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 05:41:16 PM At this rate of scoring we will have 25 points at the half.
:panic: :panic: :panic: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 05:48:10 PM Neither team is being lazy, per se, but neither team is playing all that well. Poor shooting on both sides. Bama has been able to drive the ball a little. I fear that TN will be much better in the 2nd half and we've missed our chance. Our shots aren't falling, and we've had many more open shots than TN.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 05:48:49 PM 5 Tide players have scored. Three of them have scored 5 points each. Tide 10/26 FG for 38.5%.
:popcorn2: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 05:51:26 PM Herb has not been able to get involved and be effective. Anyone know if he's nursing an injury?
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 05:54:15 PM Sometimes SEC regular season basketball is hard to watch. The refs sure love their whistles. After I said that, the refs have completely swallowed their whistles. I have a feeling they'll make up for it in the 2nd half. Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 05:57:28 PM Tide still hustling just need to hit some 3’s. 29-27 UT.
 Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:00:06 PM Tide 31 UT 29 Half
#+ Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: pmull on January 02, 2021, 06:05:23 PM Good 1st half. We need to shoot better but our defense is keeping us in the game.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:08:05 PM Tide has really been fighting and haning in there against Tennessee. Remember, UT is #7 in country. Tide is 12/31 FG 38.7%. Tide holds UT to 11/34 FG 32.4%. Tide 5/5 FT, UT 5/9.
:jump: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:23:24 PM Tide 39-32 based on 2 3 pointers, make that 3 pointers, 42-32 Tide.
#+ Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:25:44 PM Another 3 for Bama, 2nd in a row by Primo. Keep it rolling, 45-36 Tide. Three by Petty, 48-36 Tide.
 Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:28:28 PM Tide was 2/9 with 3’s at half. Now, 7/14, 5/5 this half. This would be a huge win if we can keep it going.
 Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:38:28 PM Tide looking good right now, rebounding, passing, scoring. 55-45 Tide, 10;22 left in game. Tide can not let up, must keep hustling, driving the basket, and hitting 3’s.
:popcorn2: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 06:47:54 PM I've seen Alabama basketball in these types of positions several times in the last few years, and we seem to lose about 90% of them. Hopefully the team has grown and we can show some mettle in the last 8 minutes.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:49:54 PM Tide needs to drive right at Pons on UT and make him foul them. He’s blocking too many of our shots. 63-54 Tide.
 Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 06:57:10 PM Tide still playing hard but have gone cold shooting right now. UT struggling at scoring too. 63-56 Tide, 3:56 left. Gotta hang it there guys!
:popcorn2: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 07:00:55 PM Horrible whistle on Quinnerly to send TN to the line for 3 freebies.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 07:03:00 PM Our PG Quinerly has shown up for this game. Tide looking somewhat loosey goosey right now. Big 3 pointer by Shackleford, 68-59 Tide. We are committing too many fouls.
:tinfoil: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 07:04:43 PM UT 17/26 FT, Tide 6/9. Without FT’s UT would be dead as a doornail right now.
 Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 07:08:02 PM UT 17/26 FT, Tide 6/9. Without FT’s UT would be dead as a doornail right now. Regular season college basketball has been the most lopsided home officiating for years. Back when Wimp and Sonny had their morning show on JOX, the one thing they always agreed on was "you're down by 15 going into Rupp Arena." Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 07:11:28 PM Not sure how long it's been since we've beaten a #7 team on the road, but I'd imagine it's been a month of Sundays.
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 07:14:25 PM TIDE WINS!!!! 71-63.

Hopefully the team has grown and we can show some mettle in the last 8 minutes. BINGO!! I said the same thing to my wife. This was a big test for Bama and they passed it. We may have a real PG in Quinerly. Tennessee and Rick Barnes are the real deal which makes this win so good. :boom: :boom: :boom: Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on January 02, 2021, 07:20:12 PM It wasn't a particularly pretty game, but what a big win! Conference road wins are always so hard to come by, but over a top 10 team. Wow! Roll Tide!
Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: McBaman on January 02, 2021, 07:21:30 PM Hell of a job by Bama. Got to start hitting those free throws. Thought CNO has fixed our FT problem last year. Guess not. Anyway, an SEC road win is always a biggie. Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 02, 2021, 07:25:49 PM We have started 2-0 in conference play which is great.

Thought CNO has fixed our FT problem last year. Guess not. Anyway, an SEC road win is always a biggie. That's one of the things that's more on the individual. You can't waste practice time making everyone shoot 200 FTs in practice. I don't know what the NCAA limit is on practice/film/workout time a week in basketball (it's 20 hrs for football and I'd imagine it's less for BBall). Something like FTs has to be individual pride and dedication. FTs are also probably the shot that's the most "mental" since you have what seems like forever to think about it. I will add: Good: Held high powered UT to 63 points, they avg 79. We rebounded well. UT has been killing opponents on the boards. We had 11 assists. Josh Primo is going to be a stud. Bad: Alex Reese could not buy a bucket and did not score. We only forced 9 UT turnovers Ugly: Free throws shooting must improve. Only Quinerly (2-2) shot over 50% at the line. Title: Re: Albama vs Tennessee in Basketball Post by: ricky023 on January 03, 2021, 09:17:40 AM Our stats make the score more interesting.
