Bama Bash is underway. Garner Webb had to cancel due to COVID so it is only Liberty and LSU joining the Tide. Bama beat Liberty yesterday 6-3. Bama plays Liberty again today at 1:30 and LSU at 4:00. Bama completes the weekend with one game against LSU on Sunday.

Baseball won their season opener yesterday 10-6 over McNeese St. They play again today at 3:00 and finish the 3 game series on Sunday afternoon.

Gymnastics beat LSU last night.

Bama baseball down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 7th, comes back and ties the game in the 8th.  Top of the 9th inning, NcNeese has a runner on 1st and 3rd with 1 out the batter lines out to right and the right fielder guns down the runner at home for a double play to end the inning.  Bottom of 9th 1 out and then the walk off homer as Bama wins 4-3.

#6  Bama beat #9 LSU 5-2 as Kilfoyl pitches a complete game.  LSU replaced Gardner Webb in this tournament.

We also beat Liberty in our first game yesterday 8-1. M Foust pitched that game giving up the 1 run.

The Bama Bash was originally a 4 team tournament with Liberty, LSU, Garner Webb and Bama. The original schedule had us playing two against Liberty on Friday, Two against GW on Saturday and one against LSU today. Garner Webb had to pull out due to COVID. The Schedule was adjusted and we only play four games now. Two each against Liberty and LSU. LSU beat Liberty in the first game yesterdat with a walk off 4-3 win. Liberty and LSU play again this morning at 10:30 with LSU and BAMA playing the 2nd game at about 1:00. Foust is expected to pitch today.

I have watched some of out three games already played this weekend. A few players stand out. Freshman Bailey Dowling (SS) is a player. She is outstanding in the field making several very good plays that took away base hits. He bats was batting 54th but got moved to 5th because Kaylee Tow is tearing the cover off the ball. Tow got moved up to the 4th spot. Elissa Brown continues to be a good all around player. She is hitting .647 and is lightning fast. KB Sides is off to a good start as well.

We have a solid pitching staff. Montana Foust is the ace. Lexi Kilfoyl is a solid starter that that a full game win against LSU last night. Sarah Cornell and Krystal Goodman are back. We have two more pitchers on the staff but I do not know anything about them.

This team looks good. We are looking for someone to step up and win the 2B position. It has been musical chairs in that position so far this year. Bailey Hemphill has not found her swing yet. He is not hitting the ball like we are used to seeing.

The two games against LSU this weekend are considered non conference games. Alabama and LSU are not scheduled to play each other in the regular season this year.

The ladies just completed the sweep in the Easton Classic by mercy ruling LSU 13-5. If the baseball team hangs on to their 9-4 lead over McNeese St. Bama sports will have swept the weekend. Even the gymnastics team beat LSU Friday night.

Women’s basketball team beat Miss St 71-63. This has been a very good weekend for Bama sports.

The weekend got off to a good start for Bama sports on Friday:

Baseball beat Wright St 8-4. They play a DH today with the first game at 1:00. Season record is 5-1.

Softball beat Memphis twice yesterday 8-3 & 5-1. They play a DH against North Carolina today with the first game at 11:00. We play Troy Sunday at 1:00. The girls remain unbeaten at 11-0. They are ranked #3.

Gymnastics beat Arkansas.
Tennis beat Kentucky.
Volleyball beat Miss St

The girls are now 13-0 after sweeping UNC 4-0 and 2-0 today. Bama baseball beat Wright state in 11 innings 8-7. Bama basketball held on to beat Miss st 64-59.

Baseball also won the second game of the DH with Wright St yesterday 1-0. It was a 7 inning game. Bama got the three game weekend sweep improving the record to 7-1.

Softball plays Troy today at 1:00.

One more softball note from yesterday I do not believe has been mentioned. Lexi Kilfoyl pitched a complete game no hitter in the first game that we won 2-0. The first of her college career.

Three great defensive plays in the top of 7th.  First left fielder long run to foul territory and makes the catch for the 1st.  Second backhanded stop by 3rd baseman throw a short hop to the first baseman who makes the pick to get the out.  Third, with the shift on, 2nd baseman fully extended in right field throws and another short hop to first which is also dug out for the 3rd out,

Ladies BB beat Mizzou tonight in the SEC tourney 82-74. The bad news is; they have to play SC tomorrow night.They are expected to be a 7 seed in the NCAA  tourney. It will be the first time since 1999 that they've made the dance.

Softball run rules Kent State with a walkoff walk in the bottom of the 6th, 9-1. Second game od the double header starts at about 6:50.

The baseball team is up 3-0 over College of Charleston in the top of the 6th. The game is being played in Charleston.

Bama baseball up 5-0 in the 7th.

Ladies BB down to SC 65-53 in the 4th quarter.

Ladies BB loses 75-63. Bama baseball still up 5-0 in the top of the 8th.

Bama baseball beats College of Charleston 8-0. In game 2 of the softball DH, Bama and Kent St are tied 3-3 in the top of the 3rd.

Bama scores 4 in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 7-3 lead over Kent St.

Bama softball with another walkoff run rule win in the 6th, beating Kent St 11-3. They are now 17-0 for the season.

FWIW, the women's basketball team was down in the 2nd qtr to SC 39-12. They fought their way back but couldn't pull of the win. A gallant effort nevertheless. Another good day for Bama sports.

She was pretty much a one trick pony with the rise ball. The Bama hitters couldn't lay off of it though.

Great baseball game last night against S. Alabama. Diodati hit a walkoff GS in the bottom of the 9th to rally Bama to an 11-8 win. It was a wild one. Bama is now 11-2.

Softball starts their SEC season with a weekend series at the barn on Friday.

Nice to see South Alabama playing well in both softball and baseball.  Hate to see us lose (USA beat us in softball), but glad their programs are doing well again.

It was a see-saw battle from the 7th inning on. S. Ala. led 5-1 in the 7th. It got crazy after that.

I was impressed on the way USA hit the ball.

People aren't going to like this, but I didn't like his bat flip towards the USA dugout.  I will say, back when I played and even in the pro's today, that is a recipe for getting hit the next time they play, if they play again.

They won again last night adainst Jax St 7-2.

Bama softball beat the Boogs in Boogville tonight 6-0. WOOOT!!!!!

Bama baseball is down 2-0 to Stetson in the 5th.

Softball beats AU in the opener 6-0.  Bama baseball losing to Stetson 2-0 in the 5th.  Haven't gotten a hit yet.

Thru 8 innings Bama still doesn't have a hit, down 4-0 to Stetson.

I was just about to post this. They also have 4 errors. They are obviously flat tonight.

The Stetson pitcher is throwing a hell of a game.  Getting Bama out with three different pitches.

Bama finally got a few hits and a couple of runs in the bottom of the 9th but came up short 4-2.

It took 12 innings but Bama finally beat Stetson 4-3.

Bama softball and the boogs are tied 1-1 in the 6th.

Edit: Bama just scored a couple to go up 3-1, still batting in the 6th.

I cannot find any information on Bama Softball second baseman Bailey Dowling. She had to be helped on the field in yesterday's game. She was running to cover first on a bunt and went down. It appeared to me she tripped herself trying to get her feet in position to tag the bag while the throw was a little behind her. She was helped off the field without putting any weight on her leg. Guessing knee injury. She was taken direct to the training room but did return to the dugout later in the game.

This will be a big loss. He is the starting 2nd baseman and a big time hitter with power. She is only a freshman but she is batting .306 and leads the team in HR, RBI and total bases.

Praying for quick healing. RTR!

The announcer said in today’s game said she is getting a MRI Monday. He also said Coach Murphy thought it was bad. She is in the dugout with a heavy knee brace.

Softball beat UT 3-0 to win the game and series. Montana Foust got the shutout win. Bama goes to 24-2 (5-1 SEC).

Baseball lost Game Three 3-1. Alabama is 15-5 (1-2 SEC). Arkansas is rated #1.

Ladies basketball won their first round game against UNC 80-71.

Yeah, didn't see an 8-run 9th coming.  Alabama's bullpen failed.  Ole Miss took the second game too in a pitching duel.  Alabama needs a couple of more dependable relievers.

Bama took a 3-1 lead into the 9th. Parker Wilson hit a 3 run home run in the bottom of the 9th. We out played Ole Miss for 8 innings and gave it away in the 9th. I felt bad for starting pitcher Tyler Ras who out dueled the Ole Miss ace who is a projected first round pick.

Bama lost the night game 2-0. You should win when you hold a team to 2 runs but the bats could not get any runs across the plate.

Bama softball Won 1st game of Kentucky series 11-6.

Tow had a 2 run homer as she returned to her home state.

Fouts had 1 bad inning, giving up 5 runs in the 5th inning, otherwise she pitched well. Due to Bama having a sizeable lead Murphy left he in the game until one out in the bottom of 7, Kilfoyl came in for the last 2 outs.

#3 Ole Miss baseball swept Alabama (3-0).   The score of game 3 this afternoon was 11-6.

Bama softball run rules TAMU 11-3 in 5 innings. The bats came to life today, especially from Claire Jenkins who had a GS homer and 6 RBIs for the game.

Bama softball holds on for dear life to win 8-6 over TAMU. Pitching is not what it used to be for the Bama girls. They've been getting lit up here recently by Bama standards.

Anyway, a win is a win and congrats to the ladies.

Bama softball run rules TAMU in 6 innings, 14-6. Lots of pitches thrown in this game. I think close to 300. Kilfoyle still struggling. Gave up 2 more HRs and 5 total runs, before Crystal Goodman came in for relief. She and Cornell were impressive finishing the rest of the game. Big blow of the game was a GS by Kaylee Tow. For the season, Bama is now 29-4 overall and 9-3 in the SEC.

Mens baseball is still in a slump, losing to ULM 5-3.  :(

The softball ladies played a strong game to give the Hogs their first conference loss.  The piggies had won 12 consecutive conference games without a loss,

Fouts went the distance giving up 3 unearned runs and striking out 12.
Arkys 3 runs came after a throwing error by Fouts on what would have been the 3rd out of the inning.

Sides drove in two runs with a double, followed by a 2run homer by Hemphill. Woodward had a solo homer for the 5th run.

Next game tomorrow at 11:00 A.M. carried on ESPN2,

Foust is a very good pitcher but she is killing herself and the team with her throwing errors. I think it has become a mental thing.

The girls looked totally out of sync at the plate today.

Arky pitcher was throwing an inside (to right hand hitters) drop that they never figured out.  That and a strike zone which was expanded to the edge of the opposite batters box had Bama hitters confused all day long.

Coach Murphy got ejected late in the game for complaining about inconsistencies in the strike zone.

All 4 of the Hogs runs were via 3 homeruns.

Bottom line is you can't win games if you don't score runs.

Bama gets shut out 4-0

Hope the bats awaken before tomorrow.

This game reminded me of the 2-0 loss to South Alabama. Sometimes the pitcher is just better than the batters on that day.

In the two games Fouts pitched she did not give up an earned run.

This was the first home series Arkansas  has lost since 2017.

Before  this series Arky had only 5 games this year without a homerun.

Add two more to that total.

Very food win for the girls. Foust pitched a great game. Winning the series on the road against the SEC leader is a good weekend.

The boys sweep A&M with today’s 7-4 win.

Wooot!!! That's awesome! I know TAMU is a lower tier team in the SEC, but up to now, Bama has been too. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

I went to the Ole Miss baseball game with a friend yesterday.  He had great seats; row 2 right behind 1st base.

Arkansas is ranked #2, and Ole Miss #3; it was the rubber match of the weekend series.

Arky got ahead 11-0 after 3 innings, but Ole Miss came back to tie it in the 7th: 14-14.  Crazy.  Arky won 18-14.  Ole Miss walked 16 batters, which pretty much gave the game away.

Certainly possible.  There are quite a few very good teams in the SEC this year.  Bama's in the 2nd tier.  We'll need to win a series or two against the best guys (Miss State, Vandy).

Getting to the WS would be a stretch. Coach Bo has this team improving. We get a big boost this week as All-American pitcher Connor Prielipp is scheduled to return from injury. I think making a NCAA Regional is a real possibility. Anything beyond that would be exceeding expectations.

Yeah, I think a WS berth is a little (lot) implausible.   Sniffing a .500 in-conference record in the SEC would be a *HUGE* improvement for Bama Baseball.   Auburn is in the cellar now, which is also good.

The ladies just run-ruled Ala. St. 11-3. Their record is now 32-5.

Bama baseball beats the boogs in 10 innings 8-7. Woooot!!!!!!!!!

It was a great game. Diodati ripped the barns heart out when he drove a live shot down the right field line scoring Denton from 2nd base in the 10th. The players in the dugout stormed the field to congratulate Diodati at 1st base right in front of the barn dugout. Priceless!

The barn went all out in the game. They started their ace, brought in their #2 in relief and used their closer for two innings. (The closer will show only one inning pitched but he faced three batters in the 10th without recording an out.) Bama has gotten two of our best pitchers back from injury. We should have a big starting pitching advantage in Games 2 & 3.

Both teams hit the ball well. Bama is solid 1-7 but Rose and Jarvis in the 8-9 spots can't hit a slow pitch softball. We have some power in the line up. He hit 3 home runs last night. We have hit 45 HR on the year. Our opponents have only hit 26.

I like this team. They are fun to watch. Coach Bo is getting our program turned around IMO.

This is good to see that our BB team is getting so much better by the each year. RTR!

Bad day for Bama sports on Friday. As Chech said we lose 5-4 to the Boogs in baseball. Softball was beat 2-0 by Florida and Gymnastics failed to advance to the NCAA Final Four by .025 of a point.

Saturday is going to be a better day.

Bama baseball came from behind to beat UNA 8-6 and run their record to 23-13.

FWIW, Ga ended Oklahoma's 40 game winning streak by beating them in the first game of a double header last night 7-6 in 9 innings. Justin Fields' sister had the walk-off game winning single. It would have ended in regulation but Fields hit a 2 run homer and missed home plate, negating her run. Apparently there are no Mensa members in the Fields family.  :lol2:

And I guess that really pizzed off Oklahoma as they took game two 12-3 in five innings.

The first three SEC series were #1 Arkansas, #3 Ole Miss & #6 Tenn. Not many teams would do better than 2-7. Our schedule is still SEC difficult but it has softened up a good bit. We are a hot team right now having won 8 of our last 9.

Well, we won't bring up baseball again but the ladies beat Louisiana again 5-1.

Bama baseball beat Mizzou again today 5-2. They are now at .500 in the SEC at 10-10. Things are starting to look pretty good for this team. Nice to see them win some games. Overall record is 27-15.

Softball run ruled Ole Miss last night 8-0. Foust pitched another good game. The bats were also hot. No long balls but the girls were barreling up the ball and hitting it hard into the gaps.

We play again tonight at 6:00 and Saturday at 11:00. The SEC Tournament hosted by Bama starts next week.

I watched it, The girls played well. Jamos was at the game and said they were all glad that they won it in the bottom of the 5th because there was a storm just about to hit them.

Bama softball took game 2 from Ole miss 11-7. They go for the sweep today to end the regular season. In case you didn't know, Ann Rhoads passed away Thursday.  :(

Bama baseball hit Kumar Rocker pretty well, but couldn't put Vandy away. They lose game one 9-6. Game two is today at 2:00.

The Bama softball team won the SEC tournament championship over Florida. Good to see them back where they belong.  Now on to the NCAA championship...

I was fortunate to find the game on Sirius Radio yesterday while driving through Yellowstone, and enjoyed the final 3 innings.  Good stuff!

Softball Notes:

Bama wins their 6th SEC Tournament Championship. That breaks the tie with Florida and LSU for the most titles. They were tied with 5.

Hemphill hit 3 home runs giving her 61 for her career. That is a new Alabama career record. Kelly Kretschman had the record of 60.

Fouts set a record for 39 strikeouts in a single SEC Tournament. The old record was held by an LSU pitcher with 37. Fouts did it in three games.

Fouts was named Tournament MVP. She was joined on the All Tournament Team by Hemphill, Taylor Clark and Alexis Mack.

Bama's record is 45-7.

Alabama has the #1 RBI and #1 SOS. They were ranked #3 last week behind UCLA and Oklahoma.

Alabama is on a 13 game win streak.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is tonight at 8:00 CT on ESPN2. Find out where Alabama is seeded and who they will be playing. Alabama is a shoe-in for one of the top three seeds meaning they will host the regional and super regional should they the regional.


 

Baseball beat LSU 6-5 on the road Saturday. LSU won 2-1 Friday night. Today's game is at 2:00 with the winner taking the series. It is a big game for Alabama. They are trying to make a regional for the first time in 6 years. Their record is good at 29-18. Their RPI is 23 and SOS is 12. They check all the boxes except for SEC wins. History says 13 wins gives you a 25% chance of getting an invitation. 14 wins and your odds are above 75%. 15 wins and you are most likely in. Todays game is important because wins against #3 Miss St next week will not be easy.

Bama shut out Clemson for the second straight time today 5-0 to advance to the super regionals, which they will certainly be hosting. There is a sports radio station up here and their big boy star stud is a guy named Walt Deptula. He boldly predicted that Clemson would easily win the Tuscaloosa regional over Bama. I can't wait to here his explanation as to why Clemson didn't score one single run against Bama.  8)

Bama plays host to Kentucky in the Super Regionals.  If you remember, Kentucky won a series over the Tide back at the beginning of the season.  Of course, Bama has become a much better team since then but still...Any given day...

The SEC teams are doing quite well in the Regionals.  Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky all have made the Super Regionals so far and LSU is forcing a 2nd game for the regional championship they are in.

Ole Miss was leading their game against Arizona 6-0 and the wheels fell off.  One player got ejected and when the HC was talking with the umps one of her players barged her way between them and pushed the ump aside.  Definitely not good...

Definitely not good at all. Hate to hear that. LSU won their regional and Mizzou won theirs, so the SEC has 7 teams in the Super Regionals. That's very impressive.

The SEC is going to have at least two teams in the WCWS. Florida host UGA and Alabama host Kentucky in Super Regionals. The SEC could have as many as 5 teams in the WCWS if they all win.

If the SEC were to be that fortunate by having 5 teams in the WCWS then the Big10 conference coaches and ADs are going to lose their collective minds.  They have already been complaining that they were "criminally snubbed" in the Regional seeding.  :lol3:

Bama baseball beat South Carolina today 9-3.  They dominated from the start.  I had read that they needed a win or two in the SEC tourney if they wanted to get an NCAA  tournament bid.

The baseball team is fighting hard today.  Tied 2-2 with #2 seed TN in extra innings.

Bama takes a 3-2 lead in the top of the 11th!  Runner on 2nd with 1 out.

And they won it so now they get to play the Gators.  Good luck with that...

Well, the baseball team run of good fortune hit the wall in a major way. They lost big to UF and UT to knock them out of the SEC tourney. Now they wait to see if they get selected to a regional.

The ladies are 1 win away from going to the WCWS with a 4-3 victory over Kentucky.  :worship:

Maybe the boys will get slotted for a regional.

I also hope the girls don't go all dramatic and let UK slip up and win one...Just finish the thing already...

Bama beats UK 4-1 to advance to our 13th WCWS. Kilfoyl was dominate in the circle. Maddie Morgan hit her first HR of the year, a two run shot to give us some breathing room.

What an accomplishment with all the injuries they had this year. Looks like Bama will meet Arizona in the first round of the WCWS. Arizona easily took out Arkansas. Georgia also easily took out Florida, shuting them out in both games. Bama and Georgia may be the only 2 SEC teams in the WS. Mizzou is the only other one left and they are a game down to James Madison.

Wow! Bama baseball made the Ruston, La regional as a #3 seed, WOOOT!!!

They are joned by #1 seed La. Tech, #2 seed NC State, and #4 Rider.

There was a bit of an uproar about Bama getting in over some others.  Probably justified in some ways, but I'm sure the same case could be made about other teams that did get in.

Yeah, I think Georgia is less than happy.

The committee put an emphasis on RPI this year. We were RPI # 33. All teams in the RPI Top 40 got in. UGA was #41. Our SOS being #2 helped us but the two SEC wins in the SEC Tournament with one being against #3 seed Tennessee was huge. There were teams less deserving than Bama that made it in. Michigan was #89 RPI with a #140 SOS. They had 1 win over Quad 1 teams.   

Bama ripped Arizona tonight 5-1 in their first game of the WCWS. Fouts struck out 16 and gave up 2 hits. In the shocker of the day, James Madison beat Oklahoma 4-3 in 8 innings. Bama will play the winner of tonight's game between FSU and UCLA.

Fouts was throwing the gas last night.  I saw her hit 75mph at least once, and 72-74 was common.

Whatever mojo Bama baseball had in the SEC Tourney has flown the coop. They got curb-stomped by NC State today in their first game 8-1 of the Ruston Regional. The third straight beatdown they've suffered since winning those games.

Wow! Montana Fouts pitched a perfect game against UCLA last night, as Bama cruised to a 6-0 victory. They will be playing from the winner's bracket. JMU is the other team to play out of the winner's bracket. They beat Ok. St. 2-1 in a very exciting game last night. What a Cinderella story developing there. I wonder what the odds were that an unseeded team would beat Ok. and Ok. St. back to back, in their own back yards?

It is kind of good to see some smaller school softball be good at the sport. I think whoever we play it's gonna be hard work now. RTR!

Dylan Smith pitched a solid 6 hit complete 9 inning game giving up one run. Hamiter hit a 2 run HR that was the difference in the game. We play Regional #1 seed and host La Tech today at 2:00 in an elimination game. A win will put us us against NC State that we must beat twice.

Alabama Softball enjoyed the day off on Saturday four teams were eliminated. Florida St beat both Arizona and Oklahoma St to advance to the Semi-finals. The first game between Bama and FSU is at 2:30 (30 minutes after the first game so 3:00 is more likely). Bama advances to the Finals on Monday with a win. FSU needs to beat us twice to advance.

Oklahoma beat Georgia and UCLA to advance. They play James Madison in the first game today. OU must beat JMU twice to advance.

I would like to see a small college like JMU come against us if they are playing good and we are playing good. RTR!

Oklahoma broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the 7th to win 6-3 over JMU. They will play again for the right to play in the Natty series. Bama fixing to take on FSU.

Well, JMU lost to Ok. and Bama lost to FSU. Same teams play again today.

What time did they end up playing last night?  I totally missed it.

The rain delay was over about 6:00. Both of the “as necessary” games are rescheduled for today. We play the second game at about 6:00 on ESPN. The two winners advance to the best of three finals.

I think with Bama having lost last night that may be the fuel that our ladies needed to blow away the competition the rest of the tourney.  I hope so anyways...

Bama tried fighting back from an 8-0 deficit against FSU last night but came up short 8-5, ending their season. Of all the teams in the WCWS, FSU was not the one I was worried about. Guess I should have been. Still a great year, though.

Ok. beat JMU to reach the finals against FSU.  :yawn:

I don't like Patty Gasso (head coach for Oklahoma softball).  However, I never pull for a team that beats MY team.  So I'll put away my dislike for Patty and hope the Oklahoma girls can win the WCWS...

Several of these schools have better hitters and athletes than Bama.  Murph has always had trouble recruiting very many power hitters.

NALT, I do not like Gasso at all, but I'd rather say my team lost to the best.  It will look worse for us if Okie stomps a mud hole in them.

I will never pull for Oklahoma in softball, unless maybe if they get a different coach.

I have no dog in this hunt. It's like choosing between diarrhea and gout.

Looks like Gout (FSU) took the first game of the WCWS Championship, beating Diarrhea (Ok) 8-4.

The SEC will have at least 2 teams in the CWS. Vandy has made it in. UT and LSU are playing each other so one of them are in. Three other schools are still playing. Miss St leads Notre Dame 1 game to none. Arkansas and NC St are tied one game each and Ole Miss is also tied one game each with Arizona.
