Sounds like they went to sandlot football. RTR! Saban calls the route simply "in and out", but Bryce and Metchie knew how the Aubs were playing defense. Roger McCreary (Aub DB) had been tight on the receivers all night, and was 1-on-1 covering Metchie on the play. A strong fake inside was sure to force McCreary to commit inside, because he had no help inside. Bama had enough protection for this longer pattern, so it was a good call, and it worked. That's the one I saw. I was thinking, 'Surely the Aubs are watching this, and know Metchie will get the pass'.
