Friday: "Walkoff Home Run Leads Baseball to 5-4 Win over Xavier on Opening Day" After trailing 4-1, the Crimson Tide scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth, highlighted by Diodati’s walkoff roundtripper. Woot. What a come-back. Nice start to the season. #+ Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: 2Stater on February 19, 2022, 06:20:45 AM I watched both games by the girls yesterday on my computer. They won both, beating Evansville 10-2 in 6 innings and then beating 8th ranked Va Tech 1-0 in a real pitcher's duel. Fouts with the win in that one. The Bama bash continues through the weekend in T-Town.

We almost gave yesterday's game away with errors in the 8th & 9th. The game ended with bases loaded and a bobbled ball at 2nd base resulted in a very close play at first for the final out.
Xavier is in the Big East Conference where they finished 3rd last year with a 15-11 record. At 28-2 they came up short of making the NCAA Tournament. Defending NCAA Champ Miss St starts the season 0-2 dropping the first two games to Long Beach St. NCAA runner up Vanderbilt is 1-1 splitting their first two games with Oklahoma St. Arkansas is 1-1 against Illinois St. South Carolina is 1-1 against UNC Greensboro. Florida is 1-1 against Liberty. It is a long season, but we need these early non-conference because the SEC season will be brutal. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on February 21, 2022, 04:42:31 AM The baseball team decided to make the third game a little easier on themselves, taking an early 5-0 lead. They won the game 9-4 to complete the series sweep over Xavier.
They play a couple midweek tune-up games against in-state teams (JaxSt and Alabama St) before traveling to Austin for a 3-game series with Texas on the weekend. Texas will test them, and 2 will find out how good they are. :tinfoil: Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: ricky023 on February 21, 2022, 08:06:00 AM Well this looks like the start of Texas playing in the SEC. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: Chechem on February 26, 2022, 04:53:38 AM FRIDAY
Pitcher's duel, but Bama finally flinched. We gave up a run in the 7th, and lost 1-0 to Texas. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: pmull on February 26, 2022, 09:08:37 AM FRIDAY Pitcher's duel, but Bama finally flinched. We gave up a run in the 7th, and lost 1-0 to Texas. Alabama missed an opportunity to beat #1 Texas in Game 1. Texas scored their only run in the 7th with a Single, Hit By Pitch, Pass Ball, Wild Pitch. We had 7 hits to their 5. We left 12 men on base to their 7. Tide starter Garrett McMillan went 6 strong innings allowing 3 hits and 0 runs. Tide reliever Dylan Ray took the loss going 2 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run. We play again today at 1:30 and Sunday at 1:00. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: pmull on February 27, 2022, 08:31:48 AM Bama wastes another good pitching performance losing 2-0 in Game Two.
We out hit Texas again 5-4 but we could not get a run across. We left 6 on base while UT only left 3. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: ricky023 on February 27, 2022, 09:22:27 AM Well we will live and learn. RTR!
Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: pmull on March 06, 2022, 08:20:14 AM Baseball has gotten back on track. After losing 4 in a row, they have beaten Troy 8-1 on Wednesday and Murray State twice 5-1 & -1. I am not sure how good Murray State is but they game in 8-0.
Bama plays Murray State again today at 1:00. They play 5 games next week, all at home, against Middle TN, North Alabama, and Binghampton (3 game series). SEC play starts on 3/18 at home against Florida. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: pmull on April 10, 2022, 08:12:32 AM Bama beat #7 Ole Miss in a 12-10 slugfest on Saturday in 10 innings. Bama also beat Ole Miss on Friday. Bama wins the series and has a rare opportunity to get a sweep in Oxford.
Zane Denton hit a 2 run HR in the top of the 10th. Drew Williamson hit a grand slam in the 7th. Bama improves to 20-12 (-5 SEC). Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: ricky023 on April 10, 2022, 12:48:47 PM It is good we are winning but I was hoping the coach would build us back a little better by now. I guess it is a slow go. RTR!
Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on April 16, 2022, 05:03:38 AM My goodness, this baseball team is on a tear, fellas!
Quote The Alabama baseball winning streak just found a new marquee moment. The eighth straight Crimson Tide win came with a 6-3 final at No. 1 Tennessee. The Vols were the first SEC program to ever start conference play with 12 straight wins but it wouldn’t hit 13 after Friday night. Tennessee (31-3, 12-1 SEC) had its 23-game winning streak end Tuesday against Tennessee Tech. No. 24 Alabama (23-12, 8-5 SEC) haven’t lost since April 1 in the first game of the series with Texas A&M. It claimed the next two games against the Aggies, midweek games against Samford and Belmont with a sweep at No. 7 Ole Miss last week. It was the program’s first sweep in Oxford since 1997. https://www.al.com/alabama/2022/04/alabama-baseball-beats-no-1-tennessee-ends-historic-sec-winning-streak.html Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: ricky023 on April 16, 2022, 08:46:57 AM Sounds like I don't want to jinx them so I ain't saying anything. Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: 2Stater on April 17, 2022, 06:35:11 AM UT beat us last night 9-2.
Title: Re: BASEBALL - Bama and SEC games Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on May 24, 2022, 03:55:54 PM Whadaya know? 11-seed Alabama beat 6-seed Georgia in the first round of the SEC tournament this morning by a score of 5-3. Things just get tougher from here. The Tide plays 3-seed Arkansas tomorrow.
