I kinda find the jock sniffer/wanna be internet star making the video more annoying than the arrest.

Are we really still pissed about kids smoking a little weed?  I know it's dumb because it's against NCAA and thus team rules.  So you're jeopardizing your eligibility and all that.  But let's not pretend that weed is cocaine or heroine, or that he did anything violent.  It sounds like he pulled over and fully cooperated.

Goodness, I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the amount of adults I know with security clearances holding down very nice jobs that might go home and smoke a little.  And teachers too when I was teaching high school.  I don't do it myself (though I've certainly tried it more than once), but the consequences are so overblown.  In the end, it's less dangerous than alcohol.

Tell him to stop speeding while holding and get some freaking insurance.

If you smoke weed and don't get caught, no problem.  Unfortunately he got caught.  The knucklehead below didn't get caught, but turned himself in anyhow - WTH?

No problem with marijuana use, right?

Quote
Substantial evidence from animal research and a growing number of studies in humans indicate that marijuana exposure during development can cause long-term or possibly permanent adverse changes in the brain.

More positive news about marijuana use.

Quote
What are the short-term effects of marijuana on the brain?
Recent marijuana use (defined as within 24 hours) in youth and adults has an immediate impact on thinking, attention, memory, coordination, movement, and time perception.1

More upbeat news.

Quote
What are the long-term effects of marijuana on the brain?
Marijuana affects brain development. Developing brains, such as those in babies, children, and teenagers, are especially susceptible to the harmful effects of marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).1,2 Although scientists are still learning about the effects of marijuana on developing brains, studies suggest that marijuana use by mothers during pregnancy could be linked to problems with attention, memory, problem-solving skills, and behavior in their children.3-9

No, I don't think marijuana use is a particularly wise decision, but human beings do many things that are unhealthy or unwise that don't carry the same social or legal stigma.   You don't think the medical evidence of alcohol abuse is just as bad or worse?  My point was more that I get tired of the hypocrisy of it all.  Especially when grown men who indulge in many questionable habits (and that doesn't just include substance abuse) want to run down a 21 year old because he screws up, when they would never care if he didn't play sports at their beloved school.  I judge character more by how you treat your fellow man rather than if you decide to take a puff now and again.  And certainly, being judgmental pricks never helps anyone.

Since you''re so strong against hypocrisy, how about the liberals and media that went on a crusade against cigarettes but give alcohol & marijuana a free ride? Alcohol abuse and deaths (not just DUI) are atrocious along with 9 million alcoholics. I hate smoking since it killed my father. He "enjoyed" smoking but he's still dead (age 69). Now we add marijuana use to alcohol and smoking to cause more problems for society. A 21 year old is an adult and he has to follow the law, like the rest of us. Not aiming anything at you, but the facts about marijuana just aren't found in the media. Don't hold your breath about a media crusade against it.
