Title: What about ECU?

Rabid fanbase.
Would add a state to the SEC.
Good medical and engineering schools.

Thanks for thinking "outside the box".  Saltpeter?

No offence but I certainly hope not. Maybe good school but not the caliber of competition the SEC needs. It wouldn't offset the caliber of aTm in the west. I think the competition level need to be equal in both divisions. But that's just my thoughts.

I still like the idea of L'ville building up SEC basketball a little.

I don’t know if Kentucky would like competition in the only sport they play.

None taken.

ECU would most likely beat Ole Miss 9 out of 10 times.
They are certainly no worse than vandy, msu, um and uk during their average seasons.

Ta&m does not really impress me and has not for a long time.
I am very unimpressed by their joining conference.
Ta&m is going to be the biggest beneficiary of joining the SEC.

What is holding ECU back is Conference USA.
You put ECU into a big conference like the SEC and they improve dramatically.
They consistently beat the Carolina teams of the ACC in football.

Good points, especially about Conference USA. Southern Miss used to be a great 2nd tier team until they joined C-USA.
And I love North Carolina, it’s a great market, TV and recruiting.

The problem I see with ECU is they are at best the fifth program in North Carolina. I would put UNC, Duke, NC St and Wake ahead of them.

Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium seats 50,000 (if you use a shoehorn).  "Come on, man."

Heck, Bama fans might fill that pacle up before ECU's even got tickets.

See anything unusual about the upper deck?

The upper deck looks empty like the corners of the lower deck.

Besides the fact that my 4-year-old can count the number of people up there?

I mentioned UNC one time but it was pretty much agreed they would not be a good fit for us. I thought adding another state to our conference would be good though. That coach that just left would have had a special time at UNC if he would not cheat. RTR!

Event Location Time / Result

09/03/11 vs. South Carolina  Charlotte, N.C. L, 56-37
09/10/11 vs. Virginia Tech  Greenville, N.C. L, 17-10
09/24/11 vs. UAB *  Greenville, N.C. W, 28-23
10/01/11 vs. North Carolina  Greenville, N.C. L, 35-20

I would say that they are the second best football team in the state, behind UNC (Davis the Cheater), but we will see how  the season unfolds.

The current results show that they are just a little short on talent to compete w/ bigger schools.

Something that would be helped by joining the SEC.

UNC did not cheat, Davis did.

As I told my wife and all of my other UNC alumnus family.  Butch Davis is a cheater, a good coach, but a cheater.  I predicted that he would have them in trouble w/ the NCAA within 4 years and he proved me right.

UNC would not be where they are without Davis and his antics.

Whole separate issue from UNC leaving the ACC.
