Well we won one. RTR!

Longwood was a decent opening opponent. They were 26-7 last year and won the Big South Conference regular season (15-1) and conference Tournament. They lost to Tennessee in the NCAA First Round. They are not at the Power 5 level team, but they played hard and make us work. We played well with the exception of three-point shooting. The team is a totally different look from last year and that is a good thing.

Can we improve our 3-pt. shooting over last year is my question? RTR!

I watched a little as I was going to bed. I can’t make any judgments on the team yet, but sounds like the freshmen played really well. If they can continue to improve and the team comes together as a team, as opposed to last year’s collection of players, it could be a good year and the foundation for greater things to come.

Bama curb stomps Liberty 95-59. Again, 4 players in double figures.

They looked very good against A-Sun level opponent. We were 10-22 from the 3-point line. Very strong on the glass. We have more scorers on this team than any Bama team I can remember. They are fun to watch.

Jamos was telling me pretty much what you posted. Sounds like we might have something, though our schedule is a tough one.

Bama beat So. Alabama 65-55 on the road last night. Brandon Miller scored 19 points in the win.

Looking at the stats, they didn't shoot particularly well but they outrebounded USA 63-40.

Woah, that's a good sign.  Of course, you tend to get more rebounds if you get more opportunities.  :unsure:

Watching the game last night:
Team seems to have a lot of depth.  The announcer's even said Bama is playing better defense, and if someone doesn't want to play hard on defense, there is someone to take their place. 
Team missed some layups and tried to use the lob pass that was intercepted several times. 
Team is young., as well as new players, and having to get used to playing together.
Quinerly got his first action last night.
Still too many turnovers and had a larger lead with 5 minutes left in the game.

I was too full of turkey and ...um... other stuff to stay up and watch it. An 11 point win over a storied program like Michigan State is impressive. We've got UCONN tonight. They have a good team this year too. TEhey beat Oregon last night 83-59. Should be a good matchup.

Bama took a beat down last night by UCONN 82-67. 21 turnovers did us in. We play North Carolina on Sunday @ 2:30. UCONN is ranked #20 but expect that to improve with convincing wins over Oregon and Bama. North Carolina came into the tournament #1 but lose a close game to Iowa State 70-65.

Well at least we was brought back down to earth. RTR!

Our young team fought with a lot of grit. We had plenty of chances to fold and did not. We out rebounded NC even with our top rebounder (Clowney) out of the game early with a hard fall to the floor. A very good win for our tournament resume.

Saw a little of the game yesterday and watched the complete game today.  Bama had 15 total turnovers in the game, only 3 in the 2nd half.  Bama missed 12 free throws, but Miller hit big ones in the final minutes of the game. At a crucial time late n the game Bama had 4 freshmen on the floor.  It was a physical fast paced game.

I hope we don't become just a 2nd half team. RTR!

Bama/Memphis on ESPN 2.

Bama beats a good Memphis team.  After losing to them last year Bama was basically a .500 team.

Yeah, this was another quality win. Memphis is a good team who beat the barn on Saturday. The announcers were saying it was Memphis' experience against Bama's youth and talent. Looks like the youth and talent prevailed.

Bama is now 9-1 and ranked 4th in the country.

CNO must have his talent playing up to there talent level. RTR!

Bama won the regular season SEC championship and the tournament championship in 2021.  The Barn won the regular season title last year and if I remember correctly, their fans made a HUGE deal about it since Bama was the defending champ.  They then lost the tournament to 10Rsea.  :lol3:   Could this Bama team win the season and tourny titles again?  If they do, the pain from Barn fans will be glorious... :popcorn2:

That was a very tough 3 game stretch with Houston, Memphis, and Gonzaga.  I also think they have played the 2nd toughest schedule in the nation.

Anybody watching this ship show of a basketball game? 1-10 Jackson St is down to Bama by 1 point at the half 33-32. This team is getting sloppier every game. 12 TURNOVERS in the first half and they are stone cold. It looks like they are trying to force everything instead of making solid plays.

The second half better be a lot better than this.

Miss State is 11-1 and ranked #20. This will be a tough road test for our young team but one I expect to win.

Watching 10RC blowing out SC right now. I would say they are the 2 best teams in the SEC at this point in the season.

Bediako averages about 3 fouls a game.  I think we can live with that since he plays a heavy contact position.

He dominated Tshiebwe yesterday. Completely shut him down.

If your center isn't going to try to protect the rim, he might as well not be out there.  A few fouls are acceptable and unavoidable with aggressive D.

Tonight, Bama will play their 7th ranked team for the year.  Their strength of schedule is ranked #1 in the NCAA.

It's going to be a tough one on the road.   Vegas has it about even money, while the ESPN analytics give Arkansas a 58% change of winning.  Playing at home in college basketball is probably the biggest home "field" advantage of any sport.

My third game to go to this year. I also went to Memphis and Gonzaga in B'ham. The crowds are back. Great atmosphere. The team is possibly the most talented team Bama has ever had. We can beat you in so many different ways. We go ten deep and all ten can score. This team is fun to watch.

Alabama women knock the Ole Miss women from the SEC unbeaten ranks today.

I've been following Tide basketball since 1968 and this is the deepest, best team they have EVER had. this team goes 8 or 9 players deep. This includes Clowney, Miller, Sears, J. Bradley, Bediako, Quinerly, Pringle, Gurley, & Griffen. We have an excellent point guard in Sears, tall players with talent in Miller, Clowney, & Bediako (plus back-ups Pringle & Gurley), plus speed and quickness in other players. This team has unlimited potential.

I say it is possibly the best team we have ever had. It may be the best but the CM Newton teams of the 70's were very good. Three straight SEC Championships from 74-76. Players included Leon Douglas, Anthony Murray, Reggie King, Charles Cleveland, TR Dunn, Ricky Brown, Ray Odums, and Boonie Russell.

Kansas lost twice this week, including a blowout at home to TCU and Houston got beat at home today by Temple. Purdue has won a couple of very close ones. Don't be surprised if Bama isn't ranked #1. They should be no worse than #2.

I keep hearing the comment about Bama being young.  What teams are loaded with juniors and seniors these days?  The best players are one and done and off to the BIG leagues.

And about the ranking, I would rather Bama NOT be ranked #1.  #2 is bad enough IMO because, as Doc said, no team can play their best game every game.  But the best teams CAN get the best from their opponents every game.  I wish they wouldn't even rank the teams until the conference tourneys get started...

It is being reported that CNO will be getting a contract extension and pay increase. The BOT are meeting today at UAB and his contract is on the agenda. It is reported to be in the $4-5M range making him one of the highest paid coaches in the SEC. He currently is at $3.2M. This is well deserved and needed to keep him at Alabama for a long time. Otherwise, he would be on everyone's short list that is looking for a new coach like Texas.

This team can drive you crazy. Being taken to OT by the 2nd worst team in the SEC is ridiculous. It doesn't look like A&M will be losing any more games, so when we play them on the road, we better do better than this or we won't even win the regular season championship.  :facepalm:

It's a long season.  Sometimes you have to ride the struggle bus.  It's good when you can still win one on the road when you don't play your best (and the other team chucked in some crazy 10% type shots a few times).

Marshall Dillion won't like my saying this but... This Bama team probably won't make it past the 2nd round in the NCAA tournament IMO.  They may even be lucky to get past the 2nd game in the SEC tourney...  :-X

The patdown of Brandon Miller during the team introduction was pretty classless. Nice come from behind win, however. With all the serious distractions, you have to admire that they keep winning.

Also, A&M lost to Miss St., so all we have to do is beat Auburn at Coleman on Wednesday and the SEC regular season championship is Bama's. The barn got curb-stomped by Kentucky today, so they will do their best to rebound against us.

I remember last year when the Barn won the regular season title many Booger fans on Twitter were really dragging Bama pretty hard in full arrogance. Then they lost in the SEC tourney.  :clap: This year we swept the Boogs and won the title.  Now, on to the tourney where hopefully we will win that too... Of course we still have to beat aTm this Saturday first though...  :popcorn2:

I think this team needs a rest, both legs/physically and mentally.   As far as I'm concerned, the SEC tournament doesn't mean diddly compared to March Madness.  

They claim some of the best coaches don't emphasize their conference tournaments because they're worried playing 3-4 games in a row will lead to dead legs. 

And emotionally.

Well, at least Bama gets a double bye in the SEC tourney, so that should help some. But if they beat A&M, the tourney really won't matter. Their #1 seed will still be secure. If they lose to A&M and the tourney, I'm not sure they hold on to a #1 seed in the dance.

I just want to see some energy recouped. RTR!

With all the major distractions, I'm surprised they are winning at all.

Miller didn't look like someone who was injured. He played well. The team is clicking on all cylinders. Next up; San Diego State.

Maryland had a good defensive plan; closely guard against 3s, and double down low. It worked for a while.

They were also doing a good job of getting in the passing lanes to guard against the drive and kick out.

One of the talking heads pointed out that Bama was reluctant to shoot mid-range shots.  That's been the plan all year; live off 3s and layups.  But we might need an alternate plan against a stronger inside team.

Welp! I thought Bama played well but SDS played outstanding.  We're done!  :yawn:

Bama couldn't sustain momentum and didn't adjust to what SDS was doing to obstruct our O and block shots.  We were outplayed, and maybe out-coached in the 2nd half.

As good as this team was it wasn't built to play "physical" basketball.  The formula to beat this Alabama team is/was hack, push, tackle and hope you don't get called.  Not blaming the refs but the game has "evolved" in a way that a team built for the finesse game can get beat by a less talented bunch willing to sacrifice their bodies.

UAB played North Texas for the NIT championship tonight.  They played a pretty good game but got beat.
