So, umm, was coach Bo fixing games he bet on?  If so, dumb, dumb, dumb!  The team is bad enough that he shouldn't need to fix the games... :-[

I read the other day where Ohio pulled their wagering on one of the Bama-LSU games because Bohannon decided to change starting pitchers before the game. Apparently, that led to the probe that got him fired. I don't know any other details.

Well at least we won the first game without him. RTR!

This team is pretty good. They pulled together this weekend to take the Vandy series which is no easy feat. We are on track to be a #2 seed in a Regional. We have Troy in Montgomery for a mid-week game followed by A&M on the road and finish up with Ole Miss at home. If the SEC Tournament started today we are #3 Seed.

Wow a #3 seed would be good. Although the competition will still be tough. RTR!

I failed to say #3 in the West. By record we are #8 overall.

Baseball drops Game One to A&M 11-5. We need to avoid a sweep and it would be great to get 2 wins. We are 11-14 in SEC play with 5 games to go. We are #16 in RPI. We need a few more wins to secure the NCAA Bid. Two more against A&M and three next week at home against last place Ole Miss.

I wonder if they have thought of another coach yet? RTR!

Bama beat Ole Miss 4-1 on Thursday. They play a DH today at 2:00.

Bama is 36-17 (14-14) with the #11 RPI. We are solidly in the NCAA Tournament and have an outside shot to host a Regional.

 #+ #+ #+ it is time we win a WS in Baseball. We use to be real competitive. RTR!

Bama completed the sweep of Ole Miss today with 12-2 and 5-1 victories.  It would be nice if Mizzou could beat Auburn tomorrow, which would raise us up a seed in the SEC tournament.

Apparently, they should have ditched Bohannon a long time ago.

You have a much better chance to win the game when the head coach is not trying to lose it to win a bet.

Bama Baseball remains HOT! They eliminated Auburn in the SEC Tournament yesterday 7-4. They play Vandy tonight. We are being projected as a National Seed as high as 10. Most talking heads think we are definitely hosting it is just a matter of which seed we get.

This team is well balanced. We have a deep pitching staff that has the best ERA in the conference. Best hitting team we have had in years. Our batting avg is 3rd in the league.

Anyone else get tired of hearing about Auburn's 9 game winning streak. Three of the wins were against bottom feeder Ole Miss and four were against Missouri. We went 6-0 against those teams.  That streak is over. There current streak is 0-2 with a loss to their archrival who sent their azz home from the SEC Tournament. There hopes of hosting a regional is hanging by a thread.

Where have we been all year? We have talent that shows up now. I hope we are gonna be ready to finish and getting ready for next year. RTR!

This team has been good all year. We have the #9 RPI. Our SEC schedule was front loaded so it took a while for it to even out, but we were competitive in nearly every game this year.

Bama baseball ran out of gas last night against Vandy. Still the best year we've had in a while. Now we wait to see where we land in the seeding. It sure was good to see us whoop Awbren's azz!

Bama will host a baseball regional.  Seedings will be announced tomorrow.

Bama is the number 16 seed (last team to host a regional).  Troy, Boston College and Nichols State will be coming to Tuscaloosa.

The winner will likely have to go to the #1 overall seeded Wake Forest for Super Regionals.

Would Bama still go to Wake Forest if they win the regional but WF loses theirs?

Yes they would, NALT. They would go there and play whoever the winner of that regional is.

Are you sure about that? I think if WF loses their regional and we win ours we will host the Supers.

Bama won their regional opener 4-3 on a walk-off single over Nichols. They will play Troy tonight at 8:00. Troy held on to beat Boston College 11-10.

Penn beat Awbren 6-3 in 11 innings in the Awbren Regional.  :lol3:

Bama came from behind again with 4 in the 9th to take down Troy 11-8 last night to remain in the winner's bracket. The winner of the Troy-Boston College game will play Bama tonight at 8:00.

Bama was very lucky, with 2 outs in the 9th Troy made a throwing error on a routine throw to first from the ss that should have ended it. A run scored on the error and kept the inning alive, where Bama scored 3 more.

The game of the day was UT-Clemson. Clemson pitcher Caden Grice was pulled with 2 outs in the 9th with 2 runners on base and Clemson up 4-2. He completely dominated the UT batters and it surprised me that he was pulled. The new pitcher faced Bama transfer Zane Denton, who already had a solo HR earlier in the game. You guessed it, he hits a 3 run HR to put UT ahead 5-4.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, Clemson tied it. In the bottom of the 10th, Clemson had the bases loaded and nobody out. The next batter struck out. The next batter hit a ground ball to second where they tried to turn the DP. The ump called the runner safe at first and game over.

Not game over. Upon review from the UT challenge, the runner at first was called out. Game continues.

UT finally wins in 14 innings.

The SEC took it on the chin a little bit yesterday, as UF, UK, Vandy, and the barn all lost. As I mentioned earlier, Auburn was eliminated.

Bama, UT, TAMU and SC all won. LSU and Arky were rained out.

Troy had 4 errors, which should've been at least 5 if not for questionable scoring.  Bama must play better, because they aren't going to get gifts like that going forward.

Well looks like a good showing and even for Bama. RTR!

Bama put a whooping on Boston College last night 8-0, sending them to the Super Regionals. That's the good news. The bad news is, we have to go play the #1 team Wake Forest at their place.

Congrats to the team, though. They haven't been to a SR since 2010.

Vandy was eliminated yesterday. Arky got boatraced by TCU 20-5 but is still alive, Kentucky is still alive, TAMU is also still alive, as well as UF.. LSU remains in the winner's bracket. UT won the Clemson regional to advance to the Supers.

Bama lost Game 1 of the Super Regional to #1 Wake Forest 5-4. A well-played game that was tight throughout. Both teams got 7 hits. We play Game 2 which is win or go home today at 11:00.

Bama got blown out in Game Two. The season is over but it was a fun ride. We hosted for the first time in a long time, and we made our first Super Regional since 2010. The team could have folded after Bohannon let them down and got fired. Instead, they rallied and made the last month of the season a lot of fun.

What does Greg Burn do now? Does he go after a proven winner and pay up for a home run hire or does he give Jackson the job? I am OK with Jackson staying. He handled himself well and did an amazing job down the stretch.

We begin the long drought of no college sports for the summer. It is time to turn our attention to Football.

What was wrong with us this year pmull? Was it our pitching or hitting? This to me would determine who we go after and hire. RTR!

This year exceeded most people's expectations. We hosted a regional for the first time since 2006. It was our first Super Regional appearance since 2010. 43 wins is the most since 44 in 2006. Our team was very well rounded. He hit for average and power. We were patient at the plate and drew 340 walks. We hit 112 home runs which is 4th best all time for a Bama team. Our pitching was very solid. We had a good team ERA and tied the team record for strikeouts.

Our biggest problem this year was:
1. We had a head coach betting on our games, I assume betting against us.
2. We play in the SEC which is by far the best baseball conference.
3. We got a bad seed in the Regionals which paired us with #1 Wake Forest in the Supers. We should have been seeded 10-13 in lieu of our #16 Seed.

I think we may have our coach. Jackson did a very good job keeping the team together down the stretch. Unless Greg Bryne can go get a proven winner I prefer to stay with Jackson.

Hey, pmull, thanks for the wrap on the BB season.  I had the (wrong) impression that it had fallen apart.  I guess that came from all the stuff with the HC. Winning 44 games is an impressive feat for any team.  We had more talent than I realized and those guys hung together in the face of adversity. Roll Tide!!

I hope some of our guys get drafted by MLB.  It will help our program if we can get more guys to the major leagues.

Question:  Do we recruit any guys from Puerto Rico, the Dominican, etc?

I have never heard of this also waiting to hear the answer. RTR!

We have had a couple of players from Puerto Rico and/or Dominican in the past. It is rare. I assume the reason you do not see more programs recruiting them is the baseball scholarship limits. The NCAA only allows 11.5 baseball scholarships per year. Most teams have about 35 players. They do not go very far and full rides are rarely given. It would be a very high cost for your average Puerto Rician family to send their kid here. Academic scholarships and NIL play a part in recruiting as well. Alabama & Auburn are at a big disadvantage in baseball recruiting because we do not have lottery or Hope Scholarship money.

Bama has a couple players in the transfer portal, including a very good freshman:

Well he must be afraid he'll have to work for his right to start. That is the only reason I can possibly see for players leaving. RTR!

I hope Vaughn gets a chance to re-recruit them, especially Shelton. The question is are they wanting to play somewhere else or is it NIL money they are looking for?

They played some good baseball this year, particularly after they got rid of Bohannon. Been a very long time since they finished in the top 10.
