Hard to argue with 7-0 against Sark, Riley, and Lanning. It looks like he is bringing the OC that CNS wanted last year. I think we will be fine on that side of the ball. The key is going to be the DC, and then we have to see how he does at recruiting. Everybody on the internet was clamoring for T-Rob as DC, but I just kept thinking that if CNS thought T-Rob was ready to be the DC he would have promoted him instead of interviewing replacement coaches right up until he retired. So... the next hurdle is can they keep the players that are currently on the roster, particularly Caleb Downs. If Downs decides to stay, I will feel better about everything. If he chooses to go, I can't blame him, but I am going to be a little uneasy until I see how these guys can recruit. Right now I am cautiously optimistic that this situation can work out and we keep rolling. But we will need at least a full 1 year cycle to know for sure. CDB can win next year with the roster he inherited. It will be critical to see what his recruiting class looks like next year. Since he accepted the Bama job, I have read up on him and he has an impressive resume. He is a winner. He has won everywhere he has been at every level.
I also like the staff he is putting together. If I have a concern it is recruiting. He has never had to recruit at the level required to complete for championships in the SEC. If you are a top player and one of these guys transfers in to your school, you have to think about entering the portal yourself. Hopefully the pendulum will swing back our way soon.

I think it will after this year. Everything and everybody is just too new right now for the players and recruits. At some point, they will come back to the brand. Those are the ones we want anyway. --Steve Spurrier If CKD can take a 4-8 Washington team and have them play for a National Championship in 2 years, he should be able to win big at Alabama. He will lose some guys that were loyal to CNS, that is to be expected. The key will be who he replaces them with. Sayin left because of the new QB coming in, and I can't blame him. Only time will tell if it was the right move for CKD. But this one just looks like a personal preference by the coach. Downs leaving is different, but at least he went to Ohio State instead of UGA.
