Title: What would Nick Saban do if a taunting penalty nullified an Alabama touchdown? Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on October 10, 2011, 06:32:56 PM http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/10/what_would_nick_saban_do_if_a.html
Quote "Every player knows what the rule is," Saban said. "Every player's been told what the rule is. Every player's been shown what the rule is. We all accepted it as a rule to try to promote sportsmanship in our game, which I think is very, very important. "The players know the consequences of doing these things before they score and after they score, so I don't think anybody else should be blamed for that. I'm not criticizing any players. I'm not evaluating the call." "I would not be happy at all if it happened to us," Saban said, "but I would probably be more disappointed in the player than in the call." Post by: Jamos on October 10, 2011, 06:46:37 PM I would say the players KNOW what will happen if that were to happen to them, that's why I don't think you will see it happen.

...and get a message from his daughter. Title: Re: What would Nick Saban do if a taunting penalty nullified an Alabama touchdown? Post by: Terrie1959 on October 10, 2011, 07:34:24 PM TR said that if they fumble the ball, they will be sitting on a bench. I think if a player got a taunting penalty that voided a score, they would be out of the game for quite a while.

I think that has to be the biggest understatement of the century. Title: Re: What would Nick Saban do if a taunting penalty nullified an Alabama touchdown? Post by: bamalum67 on October 11, 2011, 12:31:36 PM If the game was "in the bag", I can imagine he would say a few choice words, get red in the face, and chew him out really good.
If the game was close, and it could cause a loss, well, I cannot even imagine his reaction..a nuclear explosion comes close, but I think that does not really exemplify his reaction. I know he would not do it, but the picture of him doing a "Woody Hayes" and popping the guy a good one in the mouth would be possible. The fans reactions would be almost as extreme..the offending player would have to drop out of school for the semester to protect his health. OK, nice to daydream, but we all know CNS has explained the "benefits of the process" to all players, so I can't ever see this happening, but in the immortal words of "Kung Fu", "who can say, grasshopper?" If somebody got a score called back, CNS would have heart failure right after he benched him for 4 weeks. RTR! |
