Quote
The Third Saturday in October resumes Saturday when Tennessee travels to Bryant-Denny Stadium at 6:15 p.m., the final knife sharpening session before a bye week and then the Tigers.

"There's one thing our players have learned about our program over the last three or four years," Alabama coach Nick Saban said after defeating the Rebels. "When we're ready to play we usually play pretty well. I thought our guys learned a lesson in terms of not playing well in the first half that when you're not ready to play you get average pretty quick and certainly a lot of teams can beat you if you do that.

"I think our guys responded well to the lesson that we learned."

For the college football's microbiologists determined to dissect every strand of pigskin DNA there was little to repair in that 60-minute span. Kicking continues to concern the masses, and Alabama's defense allowed a big play on the Rebels' opening drive that led to a 7-0 deficit.

Two great quotes from Jerry Duncan:

"Well Eli, Smokey just came out of the tunnel, and he's about 100 yards away from me now, and if I had my deer rifle I believe I could drop him, back to you Eli" -- Jerry Duncan's comments to Eli Gold just prior to kickoff against Tennessee.

Well, Eli, these Tennessee folks are really giving it to our boys down here, they hate us. But by God, I hate them too. Back to you, Eli."

Back in CPB's playing days, there was nobody the team or the fans hated more than tennessee. CFT made beating the Viles a priority every year.

"No one has been able to tackle him consistently this year," Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said. "I do not care what team they are playing against, they have a good offensive line and they do not have to ask AJ McCarron to do too much. He is a tough running back and is one of the top in the country. He should be a Heisman Trophy candidate."
Did Nutt just fire a salvo at AJ?

Thanks, WV, for bumping your "stupid comment" aside.  Love the Smokey quote.
