TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Anthony Steen continued to stand back today and watch his teammates on Alabama's offensive line practice, but that isn't a surprise.

Steen suffered a concussion Saturday in a 52-7 victory at Ole Miss.

"We don't think it's that bad," Alabama coach Nick Saban said Monday, "but you never know how guys respond to those things."

But for the second consecutive day, left tackle Barrett Jones also stood back today and watched his teammates practice. There has been no word on what is wrong with him.

All of this, of course, is limited to the two periods that the news media was allowed to observe.

Saban will hold his weekly Wednesday news conference after practice. Stay tuned for details.

Freshman Cyrus Kouandjio is filling in for Jones at left tackle.

All this talk isn't helping Jamos any. Update your thread.

Quick hits: Nick Saban talks Alabama and Tennessee on Wednesday

On the health of offensive linemen Anthony Steen and Barrett Jones: (Saban said he thinks Jones is fine, but reminded reporters a couple of players would be held back in practice this week with minor issues). In terms of Steen, Saban said concussions are day to day, and a player's status is determined by a testing score. Steen's score has come down significantly. If it's down significantly he will practice.

"There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you're going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far".

Does anyone know if Barrett Jones is watching, not practicing, because of injury or illness.  Hopefully he's just "pacing himself", (Sergeant).

edit: Seems Barrett has a "nagging injury", but that's as much as was disclosed.  :dunno:
