Title: Trent Richardson for Heisman
Post by: BAMAWV on October 30, 2011, 12:37:45 PM
I'll bet everyone can find another thread to post "Trent just wants to win a NC" or "individual awards are a distraction and hurt team chemistry". This thread is to show your support, or lack of support, for the best RB in America.

I spent a big part of last evening watching Andrew Luck play USCw. He did a great job. High School Coach can talk about his fundementals and skillsets. IDK. But he seemed well above average in the game I watched. He also seemed to be doing nothing more than what we have been asking of AJ McCarron.

He was an above average "game manager". Against an average defense (USC) he had trouble stringing first downs together. He called his own plays, but also got called a couple times for delay of game. I think the math worked out to show him throwing about a 70% completion rate. He is not particularly mobile,-- not at all bad but nothing Heismanesque.  He has pretty good protection against PAC 10 (or less) defenses, and seems to have plenty of time in the pocket. Last night he was sacked a couple of times. He showed leadership and poise in overtime last night, but please note the USCw defense was dragging by the end of the 3rd.

Luck didn't do anything we don't ask of AJ. His big play last night was a 40yd gain off an end around pass where AL lined up at wide out. But everyone in the stadium new what was happening there--except Monte, Lil Laney, and the USC "D".  When a QB lines up split right, then starts moving back (after the snap) towards the ball, you just have to figure.

I have little doubt there would be a lot of difficulty for TR to take over the Stanford offense as their starting QB. But with TR in the shotgun with a pass option there would be nightmares for DCs on the coast. Andrew Luck would likely be killed on the first or second series of downs, trying to fill in for TR at RB in the SEC.

There is nothing on the Pacific side of our country worth spending more than a few minutes discussing.  The Herculean efforts of TR will go down in the annuls of MFBA history. The stage is set.  Trent Richardson for Heisman!

I will say AL is a fine NFL prospect.  However, the highest rated team defense he has faced comein at 54 and that was USC.  The next highest rated D he has faced comein at 77 which is Duke.  The average team defensive rating for the Stanford schedule is 88.6.  Bama has face better defensives.  They have face the 10 and 14 ranked D.  The highest one they faced was NT at 104.  The average rating for D for all the teams Bama has faced is 51.1.  The factors why I believe TR deserves the Heisman are: 1.  The is usually hit or being hit every time he is in the game.  AL is not.  2.  When 50% of your yards come after contact, then you are truely special.

That game should have been over with one second left..Southern Cal was cheated out of the second by the ref's..they showed the clock, and SC'S MAN OUT OF BOUNDS on the ground with one second left on the clock. The FG would have been made, and SC the winner.

WOW. I had always perceived this but...just wow!  PAC 10/12 DCs should go to CNS's camps!

The only reason some of these teams are better teams now and are recruiting much better is that they have been to Bama's clinics. Kirby Smart had a lot to say about how these schools have copied Bama in so many areas especially recruiting. He said it has really made it tougher on them to recruit anymore.

I wanted Stanford to lose, but didn't pick up on that. There was another play earlier that was reversed, but the announcers were saying THAT wasn't even reviewable. ???
