Quote
Life on the scout team took a turn this week for star junior college transfer Duron Carter. Forget playing wide receiver, the son of NFL legend Cris Carter who was ruled academically ineligible this season, is lining up behind center.

The tall receiver is now mimicking LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson in practice, Alabama defensive lineman Jesse Williams said Tuesday.

The 6-4, 210-pound junior closely mirrors the size of the 6-5, 225-pound quarterback who now backs up Jarrett Lee, played by freshman Phillip Ely in practice.

Yes it is. I think it's smart, though. He also is probably the closest think to being JJ's speed, at least, as well as his size.

Could this be the new Wildcat formation for the Tide next year? This young man is getting some very valuable experience playing on the scout team, this may pay big dividends for him in the future. As bad as some situations may seem, there's some good to it as well.

Did Duron's records ever get straightened out? If so, I guess he's being red-shirted?

I don't think so, I don't remember reading or hearing anything that they had. I think he's legal to practice but just can't play.

Gotcha. I knew I hadn't heard anything further.

The article says, "ruled academically ineligible this year," so I have to think it wasn't straightened out and Duron is using this year at Bama to get eligible.  Not redshirted, ineligible.

I believe the whole problem was deemed to be that his graduation date on his transcript was like 2 days later than the cut off to play this year. therefore making him wait a season to be eligible.  >:(

I heard it was more Duron failing to complete his requirements than a Registrar problem.   :(
