Title: NCAA denies OSU appeal of suspensions Post by: Terrie1959 on March 17, 2011, 08:36:58 PM The NCAA has denied Ohio State’s appeal on behalf of five Buckeyes football players who will be suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for selling autographed memorabilia and receiving discounted tattoos. Coach Jim Tressel has asked that he also be suspended for the same span for not reporting the players’ involvement.
The NCAA announced the decision on Thursday night—during the midst of the first day of men’s basketball tournament. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-t25-ohiost-tattooinvestigation (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-t25-ohiost-tattooinvestigation) Title: Re: NCAA denies OSU appeal of suspensions Post by: Chechem on March 17, 2011, 08:41:11 PM Tressel waited 9 months to report it. Title: Re: NCAA denies OSU appeal of suspensions Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 17, 2011, 10:00:36 PM No doubt in my mind that Tressel, AD Smith, and OSU are doing this to save their butt, improve the image of OSU, and keep Tressel from being fired. “Coach Tressel has requested that he sit out the first five games of the 2011 season. I have accepted his request and we are taking action to notify the NCAA,” Smith said in a statement. He declined further comment. There is no timeline for any additional actions by the NCAA regarding Tressel. Although, with the appeal being denied, the penalty for the players is now finalized. The NCAA could vacate the 2010 season because Tressel knowingly used ineligible players. #- |
