Title: Nick Saban talks No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama at his weekly radio show Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on November 03, 2011, 08:16:30 PM http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/11/quick_hits_nick_saban_talks_no_3.html
Quote TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Nick Saban's weekly radio show had a big-game feel this week with people in line since Wednesday morning to watch Alabama's head coach speak in person. Fans often wait in line before dawn, but a day early is unique. Well, a little game between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. * Saban said coaching at Alabama is a great place to coach because of tradition, and support. * Saban repeated a caller's point to have the fans in Bryant-Denny Stadium loud enough to keep LSU's fans in the stands from hearing one another speak. * On how a game such as LSU-Alabama helps recruiting: Several guys are making official visits, and a "slew of guys" making unofficial visits. It's an opportunity for Alabama to showcase it's entire program. * On LSU quarterbacks: Jarrett Lee is a good, accurate passers. He has a ton of experience. He knows the offense well, and they have good skill players. When Jordan Jefferson's in there he's a capable passer, and he's accurate, but they become "a little more Cam Newton like." In pro stadiums or pro broadcasts they had a red glove guy on the sideline that signaled TV timeouts. Is this some version of that???? Yeah...a guy in all white with a red hat (possibly wearing a CBS vest for this one) comes about 10 yards out onto the field around the 25 yard line during TV timeouts. I've never noticed the patting of the arms for a 30 second warning, but I believe he normally puts 5 fingers in the air and begins walking off the field when the TV will resume airing (in 5 seconds).
