Title: bad plays preceding the missed kicks
Post by: bama87 on November 06, 2011, 06:59:06 PM
It was not all the kickers fault. Here are the plays preceding the misses. It was a team effort win or lose.

I don't know him well but I have talked to him several times. He lives in Tuscaloosa but writes for several papers including the Decatur Daily. He covers Austin football games when we play in the B'ham area for away games. He is a real nice guy. I don't know when I will see him again but I will email him and see if I can get him to come on here and chat with us.

I'm not the only one. Many have made note of his creativeness. Cool.

You can only blame the kicker for missing one of them.  The rest of them should have never been attempted.

That would be really cool.

Wow, just a few days ago Bama was unbeatable and had the best Coach in America and now Bama loses a hard fought game against the #1 team in America and everybody has turned against all of what was being said earler. I hated they lost the game but I can promise you no one hated it any worse than the players and coaches. Sure I had some thoughts of what the coaches and team might could have done differently to win the game but I made my mind up on the way home from the game last night that I wasn't going to verbally attack the team.

I did make one statement on CRS that Bama needs to recruit a better kicker and hire a better kicking coach and after reading all of the internet posts today, I realize how silly I sounded by saying that. We do have the best Coach in America and his staff is excellent as well but I can see that some fans can never be pleased unless their team wins every game they play and we all know that is impossible.

The coaches and players are only human and all of us should know about human error in everday life, we all make mistakes or make bad judgements. This team and the coaches will learn from this game and will use it as leverage in making this team better. This season isn't over with by no means and there's a chance that Bama can still make the championship game. That being said I'm sure the team would much rather read and hear that we fans are still behind them rather than belitting the players and coaches. If all of us knew so much about coaching we wouldn't be sitting at the computer every night doing all of these wonderful things on CRS.

I say let's start being positive toward the team as they have three more regular games left on their schedule and there's one of them that we all want to win so badly, and it happens to be the last one. Mississippi St is this Saturday and the team needs all of us fans to pick them up and help them  recover from such a tough loss Saturday night, not rehashing what coulda, shouldsa, been done to win that game.

I'm not fussing at anyone just trying to get us fans regrouped and let's do our part in helping the team to regroup and win the rest of their games. JMO   Roll Tide!!  :D

You are right Jamos.  The 24 hour rule is in effect.  Let's move on.  I think we will meet them again, and I still think we are unbeatable, even though the scoreboard yesterday disagrees with me.

You said it, brother. Normally we only celebrate a win for 24 hours, so it stands to reason that we mull losses for only 24 hours. That ended last night. So let's re-FOCUS and get ready to whip the inferior Bulldogs this Saturday.

Great post, Jamos!  We've lost six games since November 24, 2007.  I wouldn't want to trade places with any other fanbase in the country.  I think that, as a fanbase, we've gotten a little spoiled with all of the success recently.  It wasn't too many years ago when I wasn't very upset about losses to Northern Illinois, UCF, and ULM, because that's what we had come to expect.  Now, our fanbase is upset because we lost in a very, very close game to the #1 team in the country.  That's called restoring our rightful place in the lore of college football.  However this season works out, we'll be okay, because we have the best team, coaches, and fanbase in the country.

Amen. Time to regroup. Move on and take some punishment out on MSU. I think it will be a beatdown.

No it isn't totally the kickers fault.  Sloppy play when Bama was in scoring range definitely contributed.  Give some credit to LSU's defense also.  Still, there are kickers out there who could make these kicks -- Bama just doesn't have one.
