Title: KoKoPuf's LSU Thoughts
Post by: KoKoPuf on November 07, 2011, 07:49:29 PM
1.   I was surprised the sun came up Sunday but it did. Not as bright as before IMHO but still pretty bright since Bama is still 3rd in the BCS!

2.   Great game for those who like great defense and unrelenting tension. It was clear pretty early that one big play would be the difference so anytime the ball was in the air or if TR or anyone had a seam you would come out of your seat. I know there or those who prefer the Big 12 style 48-45 shootouts but, for me, I don’t think you can beat the tension of a hard fought defensive struggle.

3.    As to the game itself, the QB played well enough to win, TR ran good enough to win, the OL blocked well enough to win, and the defense played well enough to win. The only part of the game that we didn’t play well enough to win was the kicking game. Those who want to point the finger of blame at AJ, Michael Williams, Josh Chapman, et.al., should remember one thing: If Bama makes their FG’s, or even 60% of the FG’s, Bama wins in regulation!

4.   Bama lost the field position battle early. Seemed LSU did not believe the Tide could drive 80+ yards and their punter Wing did a great job pinning Bama deep. AJ, Trent and company were able to move the ball out past midfield but couldn’t go the distance against the LSU D.

5.   I liked the Maze pass to Williams just not the result. I did not like the timing, I thought earlier in the game would have been better, before Maze was hurt. And I don’t know if he can hit a bull in the a** with a bass fiddle, but if TR tries that pass it is really, really going to be wide open!

My feet were hurting during the game from standing the whole time in section L.
