Title: "Tide’s Johnson making the most of his opportunity" Post by: Chechem on November 11, 2011, 05:42:42 AM Quote TUSCALOOSA — The honors come in piles for Alabama linebackers Courtney Upshaw and Dont’a Hightower. A semifinalist for this. A finalist for that. Then there is Nico Johnson: The other Alabama linebacker who’s quietly leading the team in tackles the past few weeks entering the trip to Mississippi State. A junior playing alongside Hightower at middle linebacker, Johnson’s 24 tackles over the past three weeks bettered both Hightower (20) and Upshaw (16). That success, culminating in a career-high 11 stops Saturday against LSU, is a combination of opportunity meeting preparation. Twice in three seasons, injuries to teammates meant a larger piece of the pie for the former consensus 5-star recruit from Andalusia. A run-stopping specialist who plays mostly in the base 3-4 formation, Johnson played nearly all game against smash-mouth LSU in the 9-6 overtime loss Saturday. http://annistonstar.com/bookmark/16382723?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+AnnistonStar%2FTideSports+%28Anniston+Star+Tide+Sports%29 Title: Re: "Tide’s Johnson making the most of his opportunity" Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on November 11, 2011, 06:43:49 AM Title: Re: "Tide’s Johnson making the most of his opportunity" Post by: MLB10 on November 11, 2011, 06:58:25 AM
Title: Re: "Tide’s Johnson making the most of his opportunity" Post by: pmull on November 11, 2011, 07:26:34 AM Nico has been a warrior since he first arrived on campus. His freshman year he took Hightower's spot when he got hurt. He was a big part of that championship team. He has split time with Mosley last year and this year. Nico stops the run. Mosley comes in for passing downs. Nico has not gotten the attention he deserves. He has been a valuable part of this team for three years. He should come back for his senior year and I expect him to play in the NFL after that. I like his additude. He will be expected to step up as a team leader next year.

He helped to shutdown Cleburne Co. when we went down there to play in the play-offs. I see him coming back next year and woaaa have Mercy in the middle. Next i would like to see Nice and Ro in the Middles with the Raiders. There would be no running in the middle then. rofl, RTR!
