Title: Paterno Sells Home to Wife for $1
Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 16, 2011, 11:13:10 AM
Joe, you can run, but you can't hide. You can't evade lawsuits this way.

Joe Paterno transferred full ownership of his house to his wife, Sue, for $1 in July, less than four months before a sexual abuse scandal engulfed his Penn State football program and the university.

Documents filed in Centre County, Pa., show that on July 21, Paterno’s house near campus was turned over to “Suzanne P. Paterno, trustee” for a dollar plus “love and affection.” The couple had previously held joint ownership of the house, which they bought in 1969 for $58,000.

JoePa's been slumming since 1969? That house doesn't look like it's worth 58K now.

I saw somewhere that said it was worth about 500K now.  From the video of them standing on the porch last week, it didn't seem like it was that fancy of a place to me.

I thought the same thing when I saw the footage. The pic in this article just re-enforces that.

It must be a lot bigger than what we see on TV. $58,000 in 1969 would have been a huge sum of money. I wonder if the lot is real big and sits on a lake?

I think they've made (are making) a big deal out of him being a man of modest means.

The $1 trick is for inheritance tax purposes. Some of you would do well to look into it.

That is a great point! I will have to remember that in  about 55-60 years! Cuz I have such a large estate.  ;D

I would only suggest that if you trust the heck out of your wife. HTH

Location, Location, Location.

You should see what you can't get for $500K in NY or San Fran, or the million dollar condo in Tuscaloosa that views the practice field.  I'm guessing this house is practically on campus, near the practice field.

Here is some "news you can use" on the PSU thing.  I've been scatching my head for a week trying to figure out why this grand jury report was made public. Aren't grand jury records and testimony kept secret? Where did this come from?

Pennsylvania is one of only 2 or 3 states (maybe DC) that doesn't indict by grand jury. They gather the details of the investigation, question witnesses and persons of interest, then make the report public, as a matter of law.

Also this explains why Sandusky ran out to get his version, declaration of innocence, on record publicly. This is/was his only chance to speak to the jury pool before trial. It still seems like a horrible idea, particularly in light of how poorly (creepily) he did. But EX-CJS is not my problem.

I was looking at some of Jay Paterno's pictures and ran across this one
thought the caption was somewhat ironic

Let's see if we can't fix that for Jay Paterno- "Sun going down, let's all go jump on some little boys"!

Soon you'll be able to buy his statue for $1.

Good thing for PSU that they still have their basketball program to fall back upon.  I'll bet it is just plain weird in the showers.

I don't think you can get a diagnosis/prognosis that quick for that disease. These people think they can still say anything and remain unchallenged. (JMHO)
