Title: Alabama basketball team has business to take care of in Puerto Rico Post by: pmull on November 17, 2011, 08:18:49 AM (http://media.al.com/sports_impact/photo/puerto-rico-tip-off-logojpg-ef40950f3629aec8.jpg)
The 2011-12 Alabama basketball team is about to find out how far it has come in the past year. On Tuesday, the Crimson Tide (2-0) traveled 1,750 miles to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for an eight-team basketball tournament that starts today. A 4 p.m. CST game (ESPN2) against Maryland (1-0) is the first challenge in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Maryland tipped off Sunday at home with a 71-62 victory over North Carolina-Wilmington. Sophomore guard Terrell Stoglin scored 22 points to lead the Terrapins, who for the first time since 1989 weren't playing for coach Gary Williams. He retired in May and was replaced by Mark Turgeon, who took Texas A&M to the NCAA tournament four consecutive seasons. Four of Maryland's top five scorers are gone from a 19-14 team that didn't even make the NIT. Starting point guard Pe'Shon Howard is out with a broken foot. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/11/alabama_basketball_team_has_bu.html Title: Re: Alabama basketball team has business to take care of in Puerto Rico Post by: 2Stater on November 17, 2011, 08:24:25 AM (http://media.al.com/sports_impact/photo/puerto-rico-tip-off-logojpg-ef40950f3629aec8.jpg) The 2011-12 Alabama basketball team is about to find out how far it has come in the past year.
