What the rest of the country needs to recognize is that those high powered offenses only score that many points because they play against Mickey Mouse high school defenses. Both Alabama and LSU were in the top 15 in points scored per game until they played each other. Even now they are still both in the top 25. Oklahoma State is #2 right now in points per game, and Oregon is right behind them at #3. When Oregon played LSU, that high powered offense was totally shut down. The Ducks only managed to get 335 yards total in that game. Alabama got 295 yards against LSU. They only scored 13 points until those 2 meaningless cosmetic touchdowns in the 4th quarter when the game was already out of reach. Oregon does have a pretty good offense, but it is only slightly better than Alabama or LSU. On the other hand, Alabama and LSU both have defenses that are in a league of their own compared to what they play in the Big 12 and PAC 12.
