Bama will face their toughest test so far this season tonight when they will play the 2-0 Shockers of Wichita State in the Puerto Rico Tipoff. The Shockers beat Alabama in the finals of the Nit Tournament last year, 66-57 and are bringing most of their team back this year.

If Bama is to win this game tonight they will need more help from JaMichael Greene . Greene was in foul trouble from the beginning of the game last night and wasn't much help to the team at all. It will be interesting to see if the Shockers go right at Greene early in the game to get him in foul trouble.

I hope they don't have the same refs as last night. They were whistle happy.

Yeah I know, Bama will need a lot of minutes from all of the starters if they are to win tonight.

I watched some of the WS vs Colorado game last night. WS has some big bodied guys that play very physical. This is a tough match up. We will need to play well to win tonight. This come be a coming out party for our young players.

Though the bench did not let them down last night. Bama is deep. The outcome of this game will be different than the NIT final I think. I think this team is on a mission. At one point yesterday, most of our starters were on the bench and we lost no ground. I think Bama beats Wichita State tonight. RTR!!!

We might get a chance to see how good our outside shooting is tonight.

Miss State is looking pretty good against Arizona, up right now 31-29.

This should be a good early game to see how much improved we are since last year.  The timing is perfect with the 8:00 start.  This allows me to watch the first hour of OSU-Iowa State to see if their is going to be any potential for an upset tonight.  So far both teams went 3 and out.

Does anybody know an internet radio link for Bama basketball?  I used 730 UMP out of Huntsville last year but the live stream won't open for me recently.  My internet connection is too slow to stream video right now.  >:(

Compare this years play with that of this time last year. As I recall, Green had discipline issues. The team was just going through the motions, almost as if dreading the upcoming season. This year we have optimism and excitement around the program. Talented true freshmen fighting for playing time. Mitchell is impressing the entire country with his play. Green is the only senior but the leadership is coming from TM. These early games are so important in so many ways. RTR

It was a great win for the Tide, it wasn't pretty but Bama played hard especially the freshmen. Bama can make a huge statement Sunday night in this early season by beating Purdue, that would go a long way for them come tournament selection time. Roll Tide!!!  :clap:

Nice win for Bama. We never trailed in the second half. We continued to play well with Releford on the bench. Lacy on the point is much better than Eben. Our freshmen are growing up. We are easily breaking the press with good ball movement. Our offense has not looked this good in years. The ball movement around the perimeter is fast and opens up inside lanes. Our players are moving without the ball. Under Gottfried we stood around too much. We are a much better team than we were at the end of last year. CAG is doing a great job.

We need to win the Purdue game Sunday night. We need to keep racking up these non-conference wins - especially against the big name teams. These wins will not only help us get to the NCAA Tournament but it will also help us get a high seed. RTR

Yeah,--who knows which teams will be ranked by the end of the year, so every win is potentially a SOS builder. Win 'em all.

Pmull, I don't know if it was you or Jamos commenting on Nick Jacobs yesterday. He has potential and seems to be fitting into his role, big body, giving Green a rest or filling in when Green is in PF trouble :big eye roll:.

That was the best that Jacobs has looked this year but the other teams have been playing zone against Bama which can limit what you can do in the paint. This was a huge plus for the team to see him step up.

Mitchell had TWO different dunks in the Top 10 plays of the day on SportsCenter for yesterday.  #7 AND #4.

I didn't like the ESPN announcers so I turned the sound off for a while. I saw them add a point to WS score while WE were shooting fouls. It turns out they had reviewed a trey by WS and it was on the up and up.
