Title: Virus Protection Post by: BAMAWV on March 18, 2011, 10:20:11 PM The fine folks at AVG called the house today and said if I keep reading Bleacher Report they will revoke my free download.
Title: Re: Virus Protection Post by: ssmith general on March 19, 2011, 04:33:50 AM A lot of people mistake spyware for virus'. Bleacher report is spyware. If you run Firefox and download adblock and script block, you will not have to worry any longer.
Commercial anti-virus programs are a scam IMO. I had tons of problems a couple of years ago and my mcaffee subscription did nothing for me. There is a free program called malwarebytes that works better than anything out there. It's all about the updates. So, in summary, I dont know what AVG is, Bleacher Report is no worse than your womans shopping sites, download firefox and get adblock and noscript, and then download and update and run malwarebytes. Then go on with your life. Title: Re: Virus Protection Post by: ricky023 on March 19, 2011, 11:42:04 AM Wow, I never had none of that happen to me. RTR!
Title: Re: Virus Protection Post by: swaj on March 20, 2011, 03:31:05 PM What about Spybot - Search and Destroy?
Isn't that good on spyware? Title: Re: Virus Protection Post by: ssmith general on March 20, 2011, 03:46:06 PM What about Spybot - Search and Destroy? Isn't that good on spyware? It used to be the best, but doesnt get updated properly anymore. If you run spybot right now, you'll get 2 or 3 spyware programs. If you've never run malwarebytes, look out. LOL. It will find tons of junk that spybot leaves behind. Title: Re: Virus Protection Post by: ricky023 on March 20, 2011, 05:28:56 PM I have Microsoft Essentials and I never have a problem opening anything. RTR!

I buy it for 2 years at a time and it has caught every virus that has hit any computer I owned. I buy single owner and load it on Kokopuf's and my 3 computers. If you're interested, here's a direct linkhttp://www.eset.com/us/search-brand?CMP=KNC-g-ag&gclid=CPnEus-DgagCFQli2godQiU6rA (http://www.eset.com/us/search-brand?CMP=KNC-g-ag&gclid=CPnEus-DgagCFQli2godQiU6rA).
The techie who repaired my computer tho those many years ago told me about it. Whenever we get a new computer, I have to get rid of Norton, then I download Eset and voila everything works like a charm! :D |
