Title: *** Official Alabama Purdue Basketball Thread ***
Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 20, 2011, 06:58:00 PM
The game is running a little late because of the first game going into overtime.  I saw somewhere that we are a 2 point favorite.  Tip off should be any minute.

It looks like about 8 minutes to tip off on ESPN2.

First basket is a dunk by Mitchell.  ESPN has him on dunk alert after the other day, so maybe he will make the top 10 plays again today.

Our defense looks good but going 8 minutes without scoring hurt. We need to play better in the 2nd half.

Changing goals sometimes breaks a cold streak. Or spoils a hot streak.

Hate to mention this again, but Purdue came back last year from about 20 down.

Rodney Cooper has been impressive in his first year. But Hubert Davis has him as player of the game. LOL All starters have around 13 (Cooper 3) and the story is the balanced attack. Hubert Davis is not very smart.

This was a big win for Bama tonight, most of all it was a tournament championship win. I think they finally figured something out with about 8 minutes to go in the game, push the ball inside and kick it back out for the open jumper. This is what has been killing their outside game, the men on the inside want to dribble and shoot when they get it versus kicking it back out.

This team can be much better than what we watched in this tournament and I think Bama fans are in for a real treat this season, this team is for real. RTR!!!!   #+

The difference this year is that maybe the bigs have somebody they have confidence in to kick the ball back out to!
This game is exactly what Bama hoops is going to be.  We will score in bunches when we get steals and play in the open court.  But when we don't press or the other team handles the press, we will stuggle against their set D.  The uglier the game, the prettier the game for us.  At least they play hard under coach Grant.

I got a feeling under CAG they play hard or they plat bench no matter who they are! We have room for a lot of growing and I think each game they will continue to get better. MG should have a great year but we have Tony and others to really pull down the rebounds that will be a big thing in SEC play. RTR!

I never heard him say that. I heard him say Levi Randolph was game MVP or something like that. Randolph looked great the entire 3 game series. We have some tough non-conference games coming up. Games include playing:

Kansas State
Georgetown
Virginia Commonwealth (VCU)
Oklahoma State
Georgia Tech
Dayton

After playing these teams, we wil have a good idea how how good out team is.

Starting 2 freshmen with a third freshman waiting in the wings (and healing up).  These freshmen are only going to get better as the season progresses.

At times, the Tide was plaing FOUR freshmen at one time, Jacobs, Lacy, Randolph, and Cooper. Incredible!

Every year don't CAG make you more proud of his teaching the players. It looks like he not only teaches technique, he also teaches the little things that matter. We should really have some smart senior players by the time they learn his playbook. Wow our future is really bright. Now I want to see the 7-footer play well. RTR!

Engstrom is learning each day he steps on the court, everybody needs to remember that he has only been playing basketball for about 4 years. I'll promise you that there is not a player on Bama's team that will out hustle him. What he needs is the injured 7 footer to be healthy so they can practice against each other, he will learn a lot quicker then.
