Title: KoKoPuf's Random Thoughts 11/23/11
Post by: KoKoPuf on November 23, 2011, 01:26:12 PM

1.   With all the talk about BCS chaos created by last week’s upsets I think last Saturday brought clarity to the BCS. We have known all year that BAMA & LSU were the 2 top teams and thought that ARKY wasn’t far behind. The latest BCS ratings, LSU, BAMA & ARK just confirmed it.

2.   Maybe I am just a worrier, but I see several ways BAMA could get screwed out of a spot in the BCSCG. ARK and LSU have a “Game for the Ages” and ARK wins in OT say 45-42 and the media, that loves offense clamors for a rematch; OSU blows out OU say 55-14 and BAMA nips AU by 14-10 or so; BAMA nips AU and Stanford blows out ND; all the above plus PS gets blown out by UW. Bottom line is that BAMA needs to beat AU bad.

3.   I’m not sure why the media seems to be pulling against a BAMA- LSU rematch. The first game had huge TV ratings, I think the best of the year. Could it possibly be because the SEC is on CBS and most of the talking heads are on ABC/ESPN?

4.   I don’t think they could take the pounding of an SEC schedule but Oregon’s LaMichael James, Kenjon Barner & DeAndre Thomas (Black Mamba) are exciting to watch! Stop to scratch your butt or wave at your girlfriend and they will take it to the house. Would love to see TR get opportunities out in space like they do.

5.   Robert Griffin III is the best offensive college player I have seen this year. I know he doesn’t play against SEC defenses but he doesn’t have SEC quality athletes helping him either.

6.   I think the Heisman race comes down to TR, RGB III, and Andrew Luck. TR and Luck have the best chances I think because TR will be showcased in the Iron Bowl and should put up a big number. Luck gets featured against ND, still a media darling, and if he has a huge day will be hard to beat. And I don’t even know who Baylor plays which pretty much says it all for RGB III’s chances.

7.   I had thought ARK had a really good chance to upset LSU, and they still may, but I think the mental edge has swung back toward LSU after last week’s upsets. And upsets seem to come in clusters so expect a return to normalcy this week. I still think the SECCG is a potential trap for whoever plays UGA. LSU will have to get back up for what amounts to a second play-in game in a row while UGA can play fast and loose.
