Title: Help? Post by: N.AL-Tider on November 29, 2011, 08:19:31 AM Hey guys, Mom is having her hip replaced this afternoon and I would like to ask that you all say a prayer for her. I'm pretty worried because of her heart condition and all of her recent (last couple of years) health problems and now this.
Thanks in advance... Title: Re: Help? Post by: Jamos on November 29, 2011, 08:26:56 AM You got it, keep us posted..

Title: Re: Help? Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on November 29, 2011, 10:26:05 AM Tell Mama Nalt she's got a lot of people thinking and praying about her today! Those hip and knee replacements have become much less invasive and the recovery times have come way down...I'm sure she'll be bouncing around in no time!

Dad had a full knee replacement this past summer. He's not one that tolerates pain very well though so he didn't do his stretches and exercises like he was supposed to so he is basically no better than he was before the procedure.Title: Re: Help? Title: Re: Help? Post by: N.AL-Tider on November 29, 2011, 07:48:43 PM She came through the surgery pretty well. Her vitals were strong and everything but she is in a lot of pain as to be expected. They will get her up and start PT tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone for the prayers. Title: Re: Help? Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 29, 2011, 07:55:25 PM That is great news!
Title: Re: Help? Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on November 29, 2011, 08:04:34 PM Good to hear NALT. Do you think she'll be a little more diligent about her PT than Dad was?
Title: Re: Help? Post by: N.AL-Tider on November 29, 2011, 08:58:15 PM Good to hear NALT. Do you think she'll be a little more diligent about her PT than Dad was? Definitely! Mom has endured giving birth to 4 boys, multiple surgeries including two back surgeries and at least 4 foot procedures, and a couple of kidney stones. She has a lot of trouble taking pain meds usually so therefore just deals with the pain most of the time. She'll be fine as long as this procedure relieves the pain she has been suffering from lately. Dad can't handle pain... :eyeroll:Title: Re: Help? Post by: Jamos on November 30, 2011, 08:11:41 AM Glad to hear mom is doing ok but sad to hear that dad isn't, Try to get him to walk as much as he can bear especially on some stairs or steps but make sure he has a rail to hang on to. Good luck.

Good luck. I think my attempts would be futile. I can't be with him enough to get him to do much of anything so basically anything that I say is just considered nagging. What's the point then? I'll just let his dr tell him what to do when he goes back to see him... |
