Title: "Kirby Smart, Gus Malzahn should be cautious about head coaching jobs" Post by: Chechem on November 29, 2011, 06:39:38 PM Quote Malzahn and Smart are certainly among the "hot" names to fill the numerous head-coaching vacancies around the South. They should beware, however. Both of them make a fortune as coordinators at first-tier programs and their leverage to land a head coaching job may never be higher. Neither should jump into a less than ideal situation and risk blowing their best opportunity to land a prime gig. Either can essentially choose when he would like to become a head coach and largely where, so when they do make that decision, they better be right.... http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/11/kirby_smart_gus_malzahn_should.html Title: Re: "Kirby Smart, Gus Malzahn should be cautious about head coaching jobs" Post by: hscoach on November 29, 2011, 06:42:47 PM I really don't understand why GM is still a hot topic. Isn't his spread offense suppose to make up for the lack of talent and still be successful? I didn't quite see that this year.

The only reason he has had any success at Auburn was that he had the freak Cam Newton and he'll never see another one of those. You could almost say the same for Urban Myer with Tim Tebow Title: Re: "Kirby Smart, Gus Malzahn should be cautious about head coaching jobs" Post by: cbbama99 on November 29, 2011, 07:27:43 PM I really don't understand why GM is still a hot topic. Hey coach, you know better than I do, but it seems like he hasn't even run the offense he wants to run because they don't recruit the kind of players they need to run it. Even last year he didn't run exactly what he wanted and instead fit his schemes to Cam's abilities. I thought last year he toned it down where it would fit CM. |
