Mal Moore is the only individual connected with the Alabama program to be a part of eight national championships.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - University of Alabama Director of Athletics Mal Moore, whose association with the Crimson Tide as a student-athlete, coach and administrator spans more than 50 years, has been chosen for induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame it was announced this week.

"Having grown up in the State of Alabama, it's a tremendous honor to be selected to the Hall of Fame," Moore said. "I am so proud and, frankly, a little bit overwhelmed. I am very proud not just for myself, but for my family. I have always been well aware of the Hall of Fame and the great people in it. So to be connected with it in this way is certainly very special."

Moore began his tenure with Alabama as a scholarship player for Coach Paul Bryant from 1958-62. Since arriving at the Capstone, he has been a part of eight national championship teams at Alabama (1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992 and 2009) with the first coming as a player, the next six during his coaching career and the most recent during his tenure as director of athletics. As a player and coach, he was also part of 14 SEC championships and 27 bowl trips. He is the only individual connected with the Alabama program to be a part of eight national championships.

Shouldn't have taken this long.
