Title: KoKoPuf’s Random Thoughts 12/1/11
Post by: KoKoPuf on December 01, 2011, 08:56:46 PM

1.   I’m late this week! For the last 2 days I have been having computer problems and most of my random thoughts have been about Trent Richardson trampling Bill Gates and Michael Dell into the Bryant-Denny turf and spiking my notebook in the end zone!

2.   I’m pulling for Oklahoma over Oklahoma State and Georgia over LSU. I think this would make all the talking heads on ESPN explode as they try to explain why a team that doesn’t win it’s conference championship  deserves to play in the BCSCG.  I mean, wouldn’t we all rather see West Virginia (maybe) play  Virginia Tech than watch Alabama/LSU II? I can hear the sound of crashing TV ratings in the background as I type.  For gosh sakes, guys! Match the 2 best teams and let them fight it out for the championship!

3.   I thought Bama did a good job dismantling AU on Saturday.  Would have rather seen 70-0 but maybe this was better. Give AU a flicker of hope then snuff it out.  Special teams  were anything but; offense was good in spurts, and the defense was other-worldly.  Typical Bama game.  I thought Jesse Williams did a great job and has become a real force on the DL. Dee Milliner showed some serious speed on the int, AJ did well until Bama became conservative and Trent was Trent – the best back in America. Just wish TR could have scored on that last run.

4.   Georgia has a pretty good chance against LSU if the Dawgs get off to an early lead like Arkansas.  I keep thinking that Les Miles has to make some Les Miles decisions at some point this season and Jordan Jefferson has to play like his old self.  Other than that LSU looks awfully good.

5.   I have thought for some time that OU would beat OSU in the “Bedlam” game. OU has lots of injuries but still can move the ball and score in bunches. OSU can score but can’t stop anyone.  Probably have cold, windy weather for the game (Is there any other kind of weather in Oklahoma in December?). Advantage OU.

6.   In watching the AU-Bama game, I thought that AU looked beat from the start. Body language, the look in the eyes just didn’t say “We can win this game.” And I’ve said before, the talent on the sidelines is way, way below LSU, Bama, Arky, and UGA. My long term forecast is for hard times on the Plains.

7.   On the other hand, Bama has a stockpile of quality guys even after huge losses to the draft this year.   Jesse Williams & Quinton Dial on the DL, Moseley and Trey Depriest at LB, Milliner, Fulton, Dix in the secondary are a pretty good start for the 2012 defense.  AJ MacCarron, Eddie Lacey, Arie & Cyrus, Kenny Bell and company look good for the offense.  It is good to be a Bama fan!
