BCS National Championship Game Ticket Prices Are As Insane As You Expected

FanSnap indicates that average ticket price is around $2,700 with approximately 3,000 up for sale. This number was even higher a week or so ago (about $2,090) when the number of tickets was significantly less.

The cheapest ticket they can find is $1,475. SeatGeek puts the basement price at $1,670 for a high nosebleed ticket with lower levels of the Superdome demanding $3,000 to $4,000. TiqIQ indicates there are about 600 tickets available for between $1,580 and $4,723.

I've paid the extra premium many times to get great seats. But 1400 for lousy seats is a tough call. I've seen the Tide win the trophy in person and now it is someone else's turn.

A friend and I spent years trying to out do each other with great seats. Not always the greatest games, but really nice seats:

* We sat about 8 rows up from the 76ers in Philly. Smack dab in the middle of the players' wives. End of the row by the tunnel to see and high five the team coming and going.

*50 yd. line at both Jets and Giants in the Meadowlands--25 rows up. My friend had season tix on about the 30-- 25 rows up (Giants).

*Luxury Skybox (hospitality suite)- Sugar Bowl- Tennessee vs. Virginia

*Luxury Skyboxes-- Yankee Stadium (ADT Security) and Shea Stadium (maybe  10 times)

*Courtside Knicks (MSG)

These were the best I can remember.

I've never had a great seat for the team I love best but:

***Leaning on the bottom row railing-- directly above and behind The Goal Line Stand. I'll bet that ticket didn't cost $50-- I posted the other day the whole 4 day trip didn't cost $250 (I may have exagerated a little)- but I sure can't remember.

I saw Bama win the championship in the Rose Bowl, not sure anything can top that.  Hell I got tears when singing the fight song at the "remember the Rose Bowl we will win then" part.  It was a surreal experience to say the least.

The Rose Bowl is an awesome place anyway. I've never seen a game there but seeing the field and reading the plaques, particularly the ones commemorating the Alabama victories there, are awe inspiring. For that matter, the whole Pasadena area is pretty neat.

As a venue it is beautiful and the history there is palatable but as a stadium it sucks and needs a major remodel for bathrooms and crowd flow.

I've had a "screw the west coast" policy in affect since the 80s. Don't try to pit one Bama NCG against another. That might be all I have to say about that!

My sister has gotten tickets to the NCG the last 3 years.  Last The Rose Bowl year she just had a feeling and researched and got season tix to the Rose Bowl.  The next year she just did it because...Fiesta Bowl.  The Fiesta Bowl was a disorganized disaster...we almost did not get our tickets in time but thankfully an auburn fan she knew bought them so she still made money.  This year she is getting them for face value only if bama makes it to the game.  She has a gift for finding out how to get the tickets and knowing WHEN to get the tickets.  She said this year she got the 09 feeling.  We reserved a hotel room in Metaire just in case we get to go.  Thinking we do, but who knows with this crazy year.  There are ways to get the tix every year and you know you will make money on them if you get them.
