Title: Oklahoma State and Alabama BCS Title Game Scenarios Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on December 04, 2011, 12:47:57 PM http://www.bcsknowhow.com/oklahoma-state-and-alabama-bcs-title-game-scenarios
Quote With Sagarin’s ratings released and the Coaches’ Poll available, we can start to work some real numbers into the equation. Let’s start by laying it all on the line. Last weekend, Alabama and Oklahoma State were No. 2 and No. 3 in the BCS, receiving the following scores from the BCS components: Rank Team Computers Harris Coaches BCS 2 Alabama Crimson Tide .950 .9586 .9566 .9551 3 Oklahoma State Cow_ .930 .8397 .8441 .8712 – Oklahoma State was well behind Alabama in every category, including the elusive computer ranking systems. Now, a victory over Oklahoma was worth quite a bit to Oklahoma State, and will allow the Cowboys to claim the lead in that component come tonight. But how big will their lead be? The two scenarios play out as such: I. Oklahoma State could receive a .950 score from the computers if they receive two No. 3 votes from the computers. Alabama would then likely receive a .930. Using the released Coaches’ Poll statistics, the breakdown would be as such: Rank Team Computers Harris Coaches BCS ? Alabama Crimson Tide .930 .9485 ? ? Oklahoma State Cow. .950 .9268 ? – For Oklahoma State to be No. 2, the following would need to occur: Rank Team Computers Harris Coaches BCS 2 Oklahoma State Cow. .950 +.0015 .9268 3 Alabama Crimson Tide .930 Score .9485 – The equivalent of five votes — a total vote share of .0015 — would need to separate Oklahoma State from Alabama in the Harris Poll to give Oklahoma State to No. 2 spot. Anything less and Alabama is on its way to the title lgame. Title: Re: Oklahoma State and Alabama BCS Title Game Scenarios Post by: BAMAWV on December 04, 2011, 01:19:23 PM SC posted the JS results late last night. It took me until early this morning to figure out how they may affect the Tide's destiny. I now think the important variable to put under the microscope is his rankings of OSU opponents in the poll/results. Keeping OU at #4 was what caught my attention.

I'm, honestly okay with either scenario for the NCCG, but good luck to the Tide. Osu had everything happen that they needed to happen to give em a shot, but I still think y'all deserve it.

Who knows what the loose cannons have based their vote on. Some may just be partial to cowboy movies. The JS (Sagarin) calculation had OU at #4 as if last night never happened. That may lead one to believe that (at least with JS) offense is the determining or overriding variable, taking full account of OU's numbers during the season. I wish ESPN people had enoug honesty in them to tell us why they have such hate for us. I would to hear some honesty instead of some politician trying to down us. RTR!

I wish ESPN people had enoug honesty in them to tell us why they have such hate for us. I would to hear some honesty instead of some politician trying to down us. RTR! ESPN is broadcasting the BCSNCG, not CBS. So they have at least a financial interest in seeing Bama play. The reasoning has been that the LSU/OSU matchup is considered a blowout and there will be less interest.Last night the main college football announcers voiced their opinion: Kirk and Brent-- 1) LSU 2) Bama Lou and Mark-- 1) LSU 2)Bama Title: Re: Oklahoma State and Alabama BCS Title Game Scenarios Post by: Chechem on December 04, 2011, 03:25:17 PM I'm busy. Thanks BAMAWV, I guess we will find out tonight unless some of the bowls slip out ahead of time. RTR! Lou said Bama and LSU were the top two teams in the country but OSU should be the one to play since they won their conference. Correct me if I'm wrong which is quite possible. With that logic shouldn't Lou not be able to claim his NC since Notre Dame was/is not in a conference.....Just thinking out loud. :dunno: Title: Re: Oklahoma State and Alabama BCS Title Game Scenarios Post by: Chechem on December 04, 2011, 03:50:26 PM Okay, clarity.
