Title: Joe Paterno had close business ties with board members of The Second Mile, Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on December 05, 2011, 06:29:27 PM http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7320780/penn-state-nittany-lions-joe-paterno-did-business-leaders-second-mile-according-report?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Quote Paterno and three fellow investors, including longtime Second Mile board chairman Robert Poole, secured financing to build a $125 million luxury retirement community around 2002, according to public records, The Daily reported Monday. Paterno was partnered with that team of investors in developing a golf resort and nearby restaurant and inn, The Daily reported. Paterno also partnered with other current and former Second Mile board members on a bottled water company, a coaching website and a chain of convenience stores, according to the report. Less than nothing to see here. ???It provides another clue as to what otherwise respectable people are capable of when it comes down to personal fortunes. Particularly intriguing, I find, is that when JoPa donated his salary to Penn St., it was thought of as a gallant gesture, rather than a tax manipulation by an enabler of a child rapest. It also gives a view through the window as to Paterno's mental health, this as far back as 2002 (I think). Title: Re: Joe Paterno had close business ties with board members of The Second Mile, Post by: prevatt33 on December 06, 2011, 02:45:42 PM It doesn't say he invested alongside a child rapist, but merely invested with other people affiliated with that rapist's philanthropic organization, an organization which has been purported to have done a lot of good in the community and will leave a huge void if it folds. The point is, Paterno invested with some people sort-of affiliated with a bad person. It has nothing to do with the mistreatment of children in any way, shape, or form. So Paterno invested with some guys - ok. Ummmmmm...... no story, zip, zilch, nada.
If it floats your boat, congrats. But this story contains no news of note or intellectual intrigue, and no one in the story did anything wrong as to their investing. |
