Crimson Red Sports

The morning wasn't so great... apparently a red wasp snuck in the house last night.  (he didn't really sneak- I had the door wide open)  He hid out til we were in bed then snuck his way into the bedroom where my 10 year old rolled over on him about 6am.  Not a fun way to wake up.  Poor baby has a softball sized welt on his right side...

I noticed that there was a lot of them outside yesterday crawling inside the siding toward the roof so I had them sprayed.  That one decided it was safer inside than outside. 

He met his demise at the end of a fly swatter.

Is there anything I can do to make my yard less inviting for them?

There's also an abundance if bumble bees.

Used that yesterday and it helped. 

Spray at night.

I'll pass that along to the sprayers.

Shoot throw Gas on them. It will take them all out. RTR!

This is how I deal with ants.  Just poor some lawn mower gas on the mound.  I guess gas is too high to do that this year though.

Yall are not really advising me to douse my house in gas, are you?

I pour hot oil on ant beds.
Cooking oil that is-AFTER I've fried whatever it is I'm frying.
Tide is supposed to work too.

The hot grease worse on privot hedge, too.

No don't dose your house but throw it on where the Wasps are. It will evaporate and the smell will make any of them if you miss leave. RTR!

Theyre living in the grooves where the siding meets the roof. 

Ok maybe the sprays would help you. I was also hoping they had a nest you could see. RTR!

Yea Billy will get them. He gets stung but he never charges extra for stings. LOL. RTR!

I used to do this with ants also, but the reappear elsewhere. By far, the best remedy for ridding of ants, is Amdro. My father in law lives in Opp and one visit I noticed his yard was infested with ants. I mean they were everywhere. I went to the local "Fred's", got some Amdro and emptied the container, spreading it across his entire yard. The next gay, they were completely gone. I also used it in my own yard last summer and it's still ant free.

For Wasps Allie, I do use Gas in a pressure sprayer. The fumes will kill them, and it does evaporate purty quick...mostly an instant kill.

Don't fret the bumblebees - they are pollen spreaders.

As long as I'm not having to hit a plastic silhouette at 300 meters, we're good! I can actually hit one from that far, 150 seems to be the issue, go figure....(eye roll)

I'm basically swatting and then stomping on one red wasp per day on the screened porch.  The wasps are slipping in a crack somewhere.

While doing it, I always think about the Buddhists and other religions that believe it is a sin to kill even an insect.  :-\  But my dislike of wasps always wins out.   

After Trent rolled over on one the other night I'm all for murdering them... I'll take my chances with Buddha.

Buddah?!...won't save you from gettin torn up by these red painful marauders.

Anything...includin those dastardly wood-borin bumblebees, that keep that kamikaze flight path towards you, are free game.

I guess I will need to apologize for mentioning the names of some other world religions/philosophies that believe that it is wrong to KILL anything, including insects.

I was raised in a Christian family, belong to a Christian Church, and will ALWAYS be a Christian.  Sorry I mentioned Buddhism here.   Just want to clear that up.  ;)

Still, I will always feel a little guilty at times killing anything that is alive....even a bug.  Maybe that is weird.  Does anyone else here feel a little tinge of guilt when they smash a bug?

Probably goes back to me being an anthropology major.  Even as a child I was interested in other cultures and their beliefs.  ;D

And frogs...  there is something wrong with anything that starts as an egg, changes to a tadpole with gils then on to a freaky little critter that lives on land and breathes air.

You and me both, Taz. This is going to sound very unmanly, but I make my wife kill any spiders that get in the house. They don't bother her in the least. Roaches, however, freak her out. I make up for it by getting those out of the house.

I hate...and am terrified of Arachnids. Hard to belive a 'Brown Recluse' (no bigger than a nickle) can inflict major damage in human tissue! I've seen it with my uncle. He almost lost his leg...

This happened @ 2:00 today, right in the back on the shoulder blade. And it's STILL sore. I know I'm a wuss, but man, he sunk that thing down to my front chest!

I found out where the nest was a lil time ago. Right underneath the A/C unit...and about the size of a tennis ball w/about 5/6 marauders. Two plastic spray bottles w/GAS did the trick...
