Quote
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain interviewed Friday for the head coaching job at Fresno State, according to a report in the Fresno (Calif.) Bee.

He is one of two finalists for the job, the newspaper said.

The other candidate is Oakland Raiders assistant coach Kelly Skipper.

An announcement could come as soon as Wednesday, a source told the newspaper.

Each finalist met with Fresno State officials in Dallas.

McElwain was the offensive coordinator at Fresno State in 2007. He has directed Alabama's offensive since 2008. He is consider a popular candidate to succeed Pat Hill, who was fired Sunday after serving 15 years as the Bulldogs' head coach.

I'm going out on a limb here and say Skipper gets the job.

Fresno State makes sense for McElwain. He came to Bama from there and he is a West coast guy. I'm glad he did not take the Memphis job. That job is a dead end.

McElwain came into the Saban system and did exactly what CNS wants from an OC. He ran a conservative ball control and just move the chains offense. We are 45-6 with him as OC. I understand him wanting to become a head coach. I just hope he waits for the right job before he leaves us.

Agreed. I just think they'll go with the guy that played and coached there. :popcorn2:

He runs a balanced offense down to almost the yard.

Last year we passed more than ever with an experienced GMAC. Still conservative. His offense under CNS is just what I want an offense to do.

Ball control and run the ball.

Good luck to him. I have always liked him.

People talk about the OT against LSU.

AJ missed a wide open MFBATR on a swing out route at around the 5, if he makes a good pass we score a TD right there.

Ricky sir.

You are saying you think he stays and turns down Fresno State.

I have no idea what he will do. No secret on this board that I like him.

Others may think he is to conservative.
